The very short p 'i'io 1 which has intervened since
their purchase, added to a scarcity of materials, Inis
rendered it difficult to improve as extensively as
they desired; yet they know themselves willing to
devote their undivided attention to promote "the
comfort and convenience of visitors and travellers.
Tlie water combines high medicinal qualities,
containing strong impregnations of Saltpetre, Mag
nesia, &c., ascertained from a partial analysis. We
deem it unnecessary to append to this notice, a list
of certificates relative to cures effected by using the
water, as the doubts of the sceptical wmuld not be
removed, and those who would believe, may credit
. the assertion, as such can be proved at any time.

Ulcers, &c. Individuals laboring under Dyspepsia,
will experience great relief from the use of the
fc water, it is known to be highly efficacious in rc
' lieving all cutaneous diseases.
It is due to ourselves, and for the information of
the public at large, to stale at least some of the
mineral properties of the water; and also the na
ture of some of the diseases which have been cured
at this place. We are aware of the prejudices gen-
Ie rally engendered by vaunting advertisements of
like character.
The location of the spring in Epson county, is in

pains will be spared on the part of the proprietors,
to render their visit agreeable.

* For the information of those who are unacquain
ted with the origin of the somewhat portentous ap
pellation of this place, it is perhaps due to observe’
that the great similarity between the noise occa
sioned by the spring and the rumbling of distant
thunder, suggested the name.
CAUTION.
A BOUT three months since there came to this
place a man who said his name was GEORGE
ARCHER, and by occupation a house and sign
painter; he appears to be about twenty-live years
of ago, has black eyes and hair, spare made, near
six i'eet high. After having been here a short time,
| he changed Ids name to that of George IV. Hives.
He is the same who was confined in jail in Sparta,
Hancock county, for larceny, a short tune since.—
He left this place about four weeks since, in the
cars for Augusta, and when last heard of he was in
< harleston, S. C., where I learn he attempted to
pass a check, purporting to have been drawn by me
in his favor, on the Bank of Augusta, for $ll4. He
also exhibited a letter purporting to have been
written by me, and directed to him at Augusta,
conveying the check. The letter and the check
are both forgeries. He is an artful villain, and the
public are hereby cautioned to be upon tbeir guard
against him. V. P. KING.
