Dear Sir—ln the month of December, 1824, being
at St. Anvils, province of Upper Canada, I caught a
cold which soon settled into a fever ; at (ho same
time 1 had a most distressing cough, and a very se
vere pain in my left side. 1 applied to several emi
nent Physicians in Lewistown, Niagara co. who
l-realcd me for tho Liver Complaint—but without
success. 1 grew worse every day, and 1 thought 1
should soon be called lo appear before the great ‘1
In the month of March, 1825,1 applied to skilful
I Itysieians iu Oneida county, who treated mo also
for the Liver Complaint, without any essential ben
efit. I went afterwards to New York, in hopes that
change ol climate ami diet and now scenes might
possibly restore me to Health ; and indeed a stay of a
lew months there enabled me to renew my trade. 1
xyas not cured, however, lor from the time 1 was
sick, until very lately, 1 wan often distressed by u
pam in my left side, want of appetite, indigestion,
and a general depression of spiriis. Last October I
