RICHMOND, Va. Nov. 24, 1837.
SIB. — Wo invite your attention to Iho rail road
line, for noil hern and southern travellers, through
the statu of Virginia. TheVoidprotioit ot the Rich
mund and Fredericksburg rail road, and tho highly
Niiecessful operation of that and the Petersburg
rail road during the pa-1 slimmer, has rendered tins
an economical, certain and agreeable route.
Such a connection exists hoi w een the lines on
these rail roads, and tin Ilalliflix, \N ilmington and
CliarlcsfoA styumhout line, (hut this route to the
north, and particularly U Washington city, has ad
vantages of a marked kind over all others.
Arriving at liullifax inn little more than two di.ys
after leaving Charleston, you may take your tom
the next morning to (Jury's Depot, at the junction
of thu Petersburg, and the Portsmouth and Bonn
otyj hill roads. By Inking the cars for Petersburg at
ini* point, yon arrive there the same afternoon and in
Uiehmond at an early hour next morning. Leaving
Richmond immediately, you breakfast in Fredericks
burg, and with but nine miles stage travelling, ar
rive in Washington by steamboat the same after
noon.
An advantageous connection also exists between
the lines of these mil roads and the HalHlar; V\ j|-
i.-ington and Charleston Bfoiliuho.it Line. Aiming
at liullifax in hill* hiuro man two days after leaving
Charleston The pAssenger may take his seat the
next morning to Dlliy’s depot, at (ho junction ot
the Petersburg and the Penhmonth and Roanoke
rail road. Hy taking the cars for Petersburg ul this
point, ha arrives there the same afternoon, and pro
ceeds northward as before.
The distance of cso hundred miles from iho
Boanonkc to Washington, is thus comfortably pass
ed in 21 hens. 7'lie faro is sll.
Passengers for the north can proceed to Haiti
more the same evening they arrive in Washington,
and roach .Now York iho next evening.
The steamboat navigation on ibis rou'o is closed
fora shorter (lino in winter than on any route to (ho
north, and is sum-dimes nnmieir pled lor the whole i
season.
The route is equally advantageous to Iho travelling
fropi north to south. 'J he rail road cars on a large
pun ion of the route aro wanned with stoves, and ev
ery attention is paid to the comhni and safely of
pusscngorA, and particularly lihlie*.
