As a business man to business men, we are of the opinion that the man who does the business this year, will have to hustle. Advertising is your greatest bus iness-getter. The buying public, generally, have adopted a con servative. and consequently safei" buying policy. Seek their busi ness in their own homes—around their own firesides, the same as the “mail order” houses do. Your home paper is the best me dium you can use to reach these desirable homes. We can’t sell your goods, our business is to tell the buying public in an at tractive manner what you have to sell and where you are located. To our readers, as an editor, we would suggest that you read the paper carefully and locate all mistakes and errors; being sure, however, you always retain the sense of the article in which the mistakes occur. Don’t wait for us to mail you a statement to pay your subscription. Be sure it is paid in advance. Send us the news items. The editor is a stranger and will appreciate it. Visit the office and lets get ac quainted. We might be cousins. When your neighbor comes to borrow your Times, tell her that she must get her husband to E3ETTER PRINTING Printing that stands outirom the ordinary! Characterized more by fine restraint than by elaborate decoration. Printing that rings true because of honest craftsmanship and the use of honest ma terials=this is the kind of printing we are prepared to furnish you. THE WILLACOOCHEE TIMES JOB PRINTERS AND PUBLISHERS Willacoochee, Georgia send us a dollar and they will re-! eeive the paper for eight whole | months. In other words make it i covenant to say a good word to your friends for your home town paper. Thanking each person for the items handed us this week, we are Respectfully, C. B. Smith. Just what will be the outcome of the municipal election over at Homerville remains to be seen. Both factions are claiming ille galities, so the chances are the election will be held over again. Mickey, that quaint little char acter, who appears at the head of this column, also says of the merchant who has been in busi ness for a long time and says everybody knows where he is, that the people know where the graveyard is too but they don’t want to go there. Our people are looking at the world with their heads a little higher this week on account of the upward trend in the price of cotton. The lady who fasted forty-odd days trying to make of her hus band an evangelist in the church of her choice has given up hope of success, and now his grocery bill will assume its normal pro portions. When in Rome do as Romans 'do, but do not forget what a nice town your home-town is. Our genial Mayor is * ‘on the job”, and notifies the public, in this issue of the Times, that if the citizens do not approve the laws, to have them repealed. Figures have been tabulated on the deflation of money in the past few months, and the Fed eral Reserve Board reports that $2.00 for each person in the Uni ted States, has been withdrawn from circulation. We miss our two, too. Just a little fun will make the times no harder. Laugh and be fat: You may have toothache tomorrow. We do not hear of some smart guy advising “eatless” economy. The Lord Mayor of Cork tried it. The 10-hour day man will soon THE WULACOCCIIEE TIMES, WILLACOOCHEE, GEORGIA be with us again. Large em-' ployers of labor are cutting wa- j ges and also requiring labor to | work 10 hours per day. We pre- i diet a cessation of the great wave of crime when this ruling goes into effect generally. Wish someone would get mad and build some more houses in Willacoochee, if for nothing but juet for rent. Did you ever stop to think just what a good place Wiilacoochee is to live in? Write your uncle, and get him to move here. That is sure enough boosting. The late census shows that more than one-half of the popu lation of the United States live iin the cities —a powerful argu ment why farmers should raise more eats. NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC. I wish to call the public’s at tention to a few City laws that are being almost daily violated and in most cases un-intention ally: Throwing paper, boxes, boards, or plank, or in fact, trash of any nature on the public streets of the Town. Getting on and off of moving trains in the City limits. Hitching stock to shade trees, fences, light or telephone poles. Exceeding the Automobile speed limit of 10 miles per hour in the business section of town and 15 miles per hour in other parts of town. Operating Automobiles after dark without front and rear lights. Selling merchandise of any kind on Sunday except medicine or burial supplies. The Marshals have been in structed to enforce the above or dinances. If the above ordinances do not meet with the approval of Citi zens of the Town, have your Councilmen to repeal them. Respectfully, L. W. Summerlin, Mayor. JANUARY? The first month in the year— The birth month of good resolu tions; and consequently, the month when new Annanias clubs are organized with many charter members—when all your month ly statements bear reminders to please settle up so as to help to get all their books straightened —When farmers move and start all over again to prepare for a new crop. When your paper is starting under new management, wants a lot of new subscribers, wants you to telephone in those news items along with a check for your subscription—Wants to send the paper to your boy or girl who is off at sehool—Wants your moral support—a good word to your neighbor who do’n’t take the paper will be appreciated. Facts About Ontario The actual development by the Hy dro-Electric Power Commission in Ontario from 1910 to 1919 was less than 60,000 horse power. The Municipal League of Georgia has much to say about the number of farms in Ontario using the service of the Hydro-Electric Commission of On tario. The facts are that some farmers in Ontario, living within or close to tbwns or villages are using electric service just as they are in Georgia, - but that electric service cannot be furnished farmers generally be cause of the expensive machinery nec essary to make high tension electric current available on isolated farms. Promises Can’t Be Carried Out None of the promises made by the Municipal League of Georgia to put electric service on the farms can be carried out. These false promises are written simply to get your sup port of their raid on Georgia’s treas ury. Georgia Companies Ahead of Ontario The electric companies in the United States are devoting continuous and persistent ef fort to working out a practicable plan -of reaching the farm house with elec tric service at a reasonable cost, but the problem has not yet been solved. The companies in Georgia are far ahead of the Ontario public-owned body, and second to none in the United States in the character of equipment and quality of service rendered. The Municipal League of Georgia says: “The public utilities such as gas, water, light and power plants are dif ferent. In them the property of the public is used.” This statement is untrue, and is an other adroit appeal for your support in their proposed raid on the Georgia Treasury. m*. Huge Cost Will Increase Taxes The facts are that every piece of property used by a water, gas, light or power plant must be purchased and paid for. The water in the streams cannot be used to generate electricity unless heavy investments are made in dams, machinery and transmission lines. The land that is flooded and the right of way for the transmission lines must be bought and paid for.
