tlon as to Exhibits, Etc.
The Southern Inter-State Fair, to b„
held at Atlanta, Oct, 10 to 27, this year,
will be conducted ou a liberal basis.
Last year’s fair was such a marked suo
oess that the business men of Atlanta
wi re ready when the question was
broached, to double their subscription,
to the guarantee fund for the Inter-State
Fair this fall. So tbe fund raised. id<V
000, is ample for greatly extending the
Scope of tue enterprise.
Some of the largest premiums evei
offered for agricultural products hav,
been arranged for. Indeed, those pro
itiums may well be called phenomenal.
Nothing like them ever having beeu oou
»dewd before by fair managers any
where in the country. Think of a #250
premium for the best bushel of wheat; a
Mke sum for the best bushel of oats, aud
■till another premium of the same
amount for the best 20 ears of corn.
These premiums seem out of all reason,
but they are really offered and will be
paid out in Atlanta this fall.
The list does uot stop at the items
named. Two hundred aud fifty dollars
are offered also for each of th«
following products: The best bushel
©f Insh po-otoes; the best bushel of
sweet potatoes, the best bale of hay;
the best SO stalks v»f upland cottou.
And think of it—| j 50 for the Ltr^est
pumpkiu. Here are nremiums that lay
wirkm the power of every southern
farmer to capture. There will be no
sawsaxsiSL-a attached the
expense to matter, except,
ot course, transportation charges, Tue
exhibitors must deliver the articles to
the Fair Association in Atlanta. The
privilege premiums of contesting for those tremen¬
dous is absolutely free.
Besides the “giant premiums’’ referred
to above, the Fair Ass'Oialiou offers large
prmuiums for collective ngriculcural ex
mbits made by individuals, file pre
imams "ill be as follows: Three hun¬
dred dollars for the best collective agri*
cultural exhibit, including grains,gross¬
es, fruits and other agricultural or norti
cultural prodnet-s; #200 for the second
J*’ st exhibit of this character, and #100
for the tinrd best exhibit.
