HOMERVILLE, GA., JAN. 20.1905-
l EDITORIAL PARAGRAPHS
IN RECOGNITION,
We wish to commend the
Mayor and members of the new
city Council for the manner in
which they have begun their duties
as servants of the people and
guardians of their rights.
In their every act they have ex¬
hibited an earnestness that is a
source of delight to the people.
Even those who have a tendency
to lawlessness are glad at heart,
for every one admires and takes
pride in a well regulated munici¬
pality.
Of course they will be criticiz¬
ed, and sometimes severely. Pro¬
gress has always been criticized,
and probably will be as long as
the world lasts. No man can
pleaso everybody in his actions,
neither can any set of men please
everybody. Even God Almighty
lias never pleased everybody; and
when finally He calls all men be¬
fore Him many will grumble at
Ilis judgment.
Especially do we commend the
city Council for its action that
will rid us of that long detested
nuisance the hog. Many times
have we earnestly urged that this
action be taken, and now that it is
a realization, we gladly welcome it.
The News is always for pro¬
gress, and will ever be ready to
co-operate v. ah those for progrt 8 >.-
siveness.
