j EDITORIAL PARAGRAPHS |
And Atlanta got the State Fair.
Atlanta’s a hustler, and is always
wideawake when in comes to doing
something to build up Atlanta.
Billy Osborn made a mistake in
sizing up Billy West. West is not
“tied” to liny man, and is not
asking any body to make the race
for him.
The hogs have been given a re¬
spite. The Council decided Wed¬
nesday night to defer to enforce¬
ment of the hog ordinance till
they hud prepared a pound.
Is Homervilie going to have a
base-ball team this year? It is time
that the boys began to talk it, and
get together. A ball team adds
much to a town, and no town is
hardly complete without one.
Some of us think that we art*
having exceedingly disagreeable
weather, lmt this is balmy weath¬
er compared to what the people of
the North and West are having. In
some places the themometer has
registered as low as 32 below zero.
We are in receipt of a neat little
booklet on truck farming from
Mr. E. d. Berry, Secretary of
The Truck Growers Association.
It is full of useful information to
truck growers, and every farmer
should have one. A (kin Mr.
Berry at Waycro
The farmers are beginning to
realize just what a little firmness
will do towards giving them proper
prices for their produce. Since
the meeting of the cotton growers
at New Orleans, cotton has been
on a steady advance. Just let
them continue firm, and cotton
will yet bring ten cents.
Editor Greer, of that bright
Semi-weekly The Waycross Jour¬
nal, probably growing just a little
lonely in the state of single bless¬
edness, indites the following:
“Since Earnest Camp got married,
his paper, the Dublin Times, lias
grown brighter and brighter. We
have a half notion trying the rem¬
edy. Will some kindly maiden
supply the other half?”
Again the littleness of John
Sharp Williams is evident, Dis-
patches from Washington state
that the place on the ways and
means committee left vacant by
the retirement of Cooper of Texas
has been given to Congressman
Sullivan (rep.) of Massachusetts
because Williams the minority
leader refused to recommend
Ilearst. It often happens that a
very small man is placed in a po¬
sition much too large for him, and
whenever such is the case he may
be expected to do little things.
Preaching Sunday.
Rev. G. Tom West requests
that ne announce that he will
preach at the Baptist church here
next Sunday.
The first fifteen minutes will be
to the children, and they are all
specially urged to be present.
Mr. West is an excellent limn
and a fine preacher, and your
time will be well spent with him.
Me will talk about the "Iaist words
of & little boy of Homervilie to
the pastor on his last visit.”

Tendency of the Times
The tendency of medical science
is‘towards preventive measures.
The best thought of the world is
being given to the subject. It is
easier and better to prevent than
to cure. It has been fully demon¬
strated that pneumonia, one of
the most dangerous diseases that
medical men have to deal with,
can be prevented by the use of
Chamberlain’s Gough Remedy.
Pneumonia results from a cold or
from an attack ot influenza (grip)
and it has been observed that this
remedy counteracts any tendency
of these diseases towards pneu¬
monia, This lias been fully prov¬
en in many thousands of cases in
which this remedy has been used
during the great prevalence of
cold.* and grip in recent years, and
can be relied upon with implicit
confidence. Pneurhonia often re¬
sults from a slight cold when no
danger is apprehended until it is
suddenly discovered that there is
fever and difficulty in breathing
and pains in the chest, then it is
announced that the patient has
pneumonia. Be on the safe
and use Chamberlain’s Cough
Remedy as soon as the cold is
cent, acted. It always cures.
