OBITUARY.
Iti sweet remembrance of our
uncle, Air. W. N. Gibson, who
died at'the Asylum not long ago.
Mr. Gibson was an old Confed¬
erate soldier, and was about 53
years old when he died. He lost
his mind several months ago, and
was carried to the Asylum, but
only lived a short while, when the
death angel called him quietly
home. lie leaves a wife and one
child, and other relatives to mourn
his death.
The bereaved ones have our
deepest sympathy. It is consoling
to them to feel that he is now
resting sweetly in that happy
home above. Faithfully he fought
the battles of this life, and now he
has gone to receive reward of those
who fall not by the wayside. May
we all be permitted to join him in
that home where death and sorrow
are not known, but whore eternal
gladness rules supreme.
A friend.

Mr. K. 1 Evan's beauliful
horse, that had been sick for sev-
oral days, died with distemper last

ARGYLE GLEANINGS.
We arc now having some very
disagreeable weather, on account
of it being so dry and warm.
On last Sunday afternoon there
was a pretty scene "when Miss
Lizzie Smith wedded Mr. Willie
I). McQuaig, of Manor, Rev. E.
J. McQuaig officiating, in the
presence of a large host of friends
and relatives. Immediately after
the marriage the happy couple left
for their future home near Manor.
The writer extends her congratu¬
lations to the happy couple.
Our striving little town is work¬
ing fora better day, us she is ex¬
pecting to have a protracted
meeting begin on the fourth Satur¬
day and Sunday in this month.
The services will be opened by
Rev O. L. Smith, pastor of tire
church, assisted by Itev. J. A.
Smith and T. B. Stanford. Now
Jet us all join in the choir and
work for a better day coming;
yes, coming “bye and bvc. f 1
On last Wednesday morning
the death Angel passed over the
little town of Waycrrss, and
claimed Mrs. K. A. Jurnigan as
its own. She was a loving mother
and a Christian lady, and leaves
five daughters and three sons, be¬
sides a large host of friends and
relatives, to mourn her death.
Mr. J. R. Booth and daughter,
Miss Dollie, was called, last Sat¬
urday afternoon, to the bedside of
Miss,Queen Booth, w ho was taken
very ill. Dr. Little, of Manor,
was called and w r e arc glad to note
her improvement.
We guess “Buffalo Bill"’ and
i i Mamma’s Pet” must be gone to
see “pa’s folks” again, as we did
not hear from them last week.
We noticed that “A Reader” at
Balloon has some grass. It must
be very plentiful, or he would not
have mentioned it. Hurrah, “A
Header!” Salt the roots of your
grass and let’s have a picnic.
We notieethat Mr. Isham Rob¬
erts has popcorn, pigs and biddies.
If Ms corn is all popcorn we will
go over to see him in September
and have a popcorn party; pig for
supper and biddie for breakfast.
That will be nice.
Much success to “A Reader,”
and good luck for sister “Togo.”
