Atlanta. Aug. 6......Forty mil-
lion'dollars is the figure now set
by (’apt. \V. II. Harrison for the
probable aggregate^ gains in tax
returns in the DA > counties of
Georgia.
Up to this afternoon the digests
of 117 counties had been received
showing net y<ns aggregating
*32.555,S90, 0 i%r *7,000,000
in excess of what was at first es-
timated as the fatal gaiiffe for the
whole state.
The digests of six more conn-
ties came in today, among which
was Fulton, with again o£jjj|3,-
S1 6, 216, and Chat ham with a gain
of about 8f..f ,o Q,000.

Atlanta, Aug. S. A practical
agreement has been reached on
the new counties, the creation of
which will be recommended by
the iAmniittees which have had
the question of new counties un¬
der consideration for several
weeks past.
According to this agreement it
is understood that eight new coun-
ties are to be recommended by the
House Committee, either tomor¬
row or Thursday.
The eight successful competi¬
tors for “new county honors, ac¬
cording to an authoritive source
of information, are ns follows: ....
.Jenkins county, to bo formed
from parts of Burke, Bulloch,
Screven and Emanuel, with Mil¬
ieu as county seat.
