week, and are looking over the

So far, they have found all the
books neatly and correctly kept.
It is thought that they will
have finished the work by the end
of the week. Mr. M-S- Eason,
and Mt. W.B-N.Cvewn; Jconstithte
the Committee that is looking
after this work. They are among
die best citizens of our County,
and owing to their experience
and special fitness for the posit
ion, we feel sure that, nothing will
escape un-examined.J

DEATH OP COL LYMAN, SIRMANS
Col. Lyman Birmans of DaPoni
died Fiidav April, 22nd. Mr.
Birmans was one of the oldest,
and most highly respected citiz¬
ens of Clinch County, having been
an officer of this County at one
time. He was buried at the North'
graveyard on last Saturday, Rev
A. K"lly performing the burial
rites.
Mr, Sirmans has always been
a very devoted member of the
Methodist Church, and was fora
long time Superiuteudant of tin
Sunday-school at DuPont. Mr.
Sirmans used to live in Homer-
vtlle, and there is a very fitting
monument to his memory here
The beautiful oak grove now
owned by Mr. D- E. Kirkland,
which is located just acrcss the
Railroad, and fronting the Crum
Hotel, was set out by Mr. Simi¬
ans, and is one of the most eaat-
iful groves in the County. Our
deepest ssmpathies are with his
bereaved wife and children.
Rev. Geo. A. Wilhite the Cahf-
mia evangelist, will preach at
the Baptist Church at Homervillc
on Snuday, May 1st. His snp-
