Atlanta has done the awful
task of raising that $600,000 for
the Y. M. C A.
ri-
Now then Brother Dame, of
the Clinch County News, says
that a band of Clinch County
boys could go down there and
capture all those Latin Republics
in ten days. We don’t doubt
it. Next.—Hazlehurst News.

Poor Atlanta! They were
nearly frightened to death in
that city the other day because
a visitor spent $525, there in
three days. Why, we have seen
that beaten in Waycross, where
everybody is poor, and no com¬
ment raised about it
ri-
The Valdosta Aviation meet
was anything but a success. It
was not advertised to any extent
in this county, but what few
people went from here are on
the verge of using a Schnapps
Kicking machine, and in¬
sist in saying that it is just a-
nother of the humbugs that that
town inaugurates to extract the
cash from the country people.

Ye editor had occassion to
visit prosperous Mud Creek and
Stockton districts last Saturday.
W T e must say that this section
is growing with a certain rap¬
idity, and it will only be a few
years when this will be a section
to be proud of-
We had the pleasure of partak¬
ing of dinner with the clever
family of Mr. Ben j. Smith, who,
by the way, has one of the best
farms in the Wiregrass.
Winter has dealt gently with
the people, of these sections and,
driving thru the long lanes, smel
ling the freshly turned earth,
and hearing the bees hunting
among the fruit trees, makes
one feel that he is in the land
that “flows with milk and
honey” indeed-

Maps of Georgia showing the
distance of Atlanta and Macon to
the largest number of people in
the state, have been sent out in
large numbers to officials and
ami prominent citizens of every
county in the state. The mailing
list includes at least 95 per cent
of the post offices of the state.
The maps have gone to every
ucwspapi r editor, every member
of the legislature, sheriff,
every, ordinary, every e unity
treasurer, every superior court
clerk, many teach is and to more
than 3.00J pc sons ivho made per-
soual requests. There are still a
large number ol the maps on hand,
and they will be sent postpaid to
every auhscriber of this paper
who makes their wants known to
the Central Capital Association
Of Macon.
Never before have we seen
the people of Homerville in such
a prospeous condition, On
every hand we sec men hust¬
ling, and the signs of their
activity are looming up on all
sides.

Our brother of the Hazlehurst
News, who, by the way, is con¬
nected to us by consanguinity
as well as journalistic ties, has
had a dream, a strange dream,
a wonderful dream, it seems.
Yea, passing wonderful! Reflect¬
ing a while over his paper be
fore he wrote, he tells us that
he does not know whether it
was from over eating or not eat¬
ing enough at the supper table
the night before. Granting it
to be the latter, which is the
“fore-dained” and predestinated
lot of most country editors, he
tells the following story.
“We thought we were attending a
great mans meeting of the entire people
of the state of Georgia for the purpose
of deciding on the question to move the
capilol to Macon. After extended
speeches by many the question was
put before the house and it went over¬
whelmingly for Macon. Now we don’t
new what prompted such a dream,
but if it could be possible we would at¬
tend that rnasH meeting and vote for
Macon without a doubt.”
Atlauta had just as well give
up the “little house over on
Capitol Ave.” Macon has
won. When printers dream
dreams they come true.
L, L- Du Pont, a prominent
resident of our neighboring
town of the same name, was
here Non day.
Ordinary Dame wishes us to
announce that he h&s Georgia
Codes on'hand for the several
Justices of the Peace and desires
them to come forward and get
them. It is a new edition, hav¬
ing been revised, and each Dis¬
trict is entitled to two sets.
