A CASE-HARDENED PRINTER.
Au Illustration of How the S ns of Faust
Become Skeptical and Cynical
John Swlntou’s Paper.
The sons of Faust are apt to be a skep
tical, cynical crew. They see so many sides
of life, and si far into them al', that they
a, re in danger of assuming a fixed attitcd
of incredulity or mockery, and of 1 >sing all
their enthusiasm.
Look how they “box the compass” as
they pass from office to cffice. Take for
example Pop Kednose, who is now turning
forty. He got his first job as an apprentice
on the Evangelist, and set up so many ser
mons urging him to repent that he deter
mined to become a saint. He bad just
reached that point, when he got the sack.
His next job was. on Abbe McMaster’s
Catholic R gisler,whichsoonl.‘d him todoubt
the truth of Protestantism, and brought
him to the very'edge of the ancient Roman
church. He had just about made up bis
mind in favor of auricular confession, when
a dirty proof of one of the Abbe’s illegible
editorials landed him on the sidewalk. H's
next sit was on The Truth Seeker, which
soon brought him to a total unbelief in all
sorts of religion. He became a sub on The
Times, which made him a Republican and
sent him to the wai, but came back to a cate
on Mantor Marble’s World, and soon turned
up as a solid Democrat. He left the dailies,
got a job on a teetotal weekly, found out the
horrors of drinking, and res Ived to quit
liquor; but in two months got a fatter job
on The Wine and Spirit Merchant, where
lie set up the praises of the “ruby,”
and saw it was necessary to his
health. He soon got a weekly job on
a moral reform paper, spent his time over
copy against the tobacco habit, and de
termined to 'throw away his pipe; but he
got a fatter thing on The Tobacco Leaf,
where he read every day of the charms of
the Virginia weed, to which he soon re
turned. From an allopathic weekly, which
led bin to take cabmel with his regular
-Tie’, he went to a homeopathic monthly,
which taught him to never go beyond the
millionth trituration of a speck. After a
while Freemasonry was the thing, as he put
in type an article on the thirty-ninth de
Cree, and latterly he has been disposed in
favor of civil service ref »rm as he tinkers
up the leaded brevier of Mr. Ford’s Brook
lyn Union. But after all his experiences,
liere and there, Pop Rednose has become a
thorough skeptic and cynic with a sneer for
every new philosopher, and a firm taith only
in printers’ “fat,’
We must tell of the great specific—Hunt'.,
, Kidney and Liver] Remedy. It never fails
to cure Diabetes, Dropsy, Bright's Disease,&c
Indigestion’s Martyrs.
Half the diseases of the human family
spring from a disordered stomach, and may
be prevented by invigorating and toniugthat
abused and neglected organ with Hostetter's
Stomach Bitters. Let it be borne in mind that
the liver, the kidneys, the intestines, the
muscles, the ligaments, the bones, the nerves,
the integuments, are all renewed and nour
ished by the blood, and that the digestive
organs are the grcni alembic in which the
materials of the vital fluid are prepared. When
the stomach fails to provide healthful nour
ishment for its depend, nciesthey necessarily
suffer, and the ultimate result, if the evil is
not arrested, will be chronic and probably
fatal disease somewhere.lt may be developed
in the kidneys in the form of diabetls, in the
liver as congestion, in the muscles as rheu
matism, in the nerves as paralysis, in tiie in
teguments as scrofula. Remember, however,
that each"and ail of these consequences of in
digestion may be prevented by the timely
and regular use of that sovereign antidote to
dyspepsia, Hostetter's Stomach Bitters.

Almost a Miracle!
A REMARKABLE STORY.
A few days ago a gentleman of high standing in
Atlanta met Dr. J. Bradfield on the street, and related
the following, in which all ladies are deeply in
terested : *
“For the past eighteen months my wife has been
an invalid, caused from womb trouble, cessation of
mense , etc., and 1 have t'ied everything! could hear
of in the way of medicine, and have had several of our
best physicians attending her, to one of whom (calling
him by i ame) I paid one hundred and sixty-three dol
lars. Instead of improving or getting any relief, she
gradually grew worse, and I hod almost given up hope,
and really did not believe she wouid ever get up from
an invalid’s bed; but a friend of mine who knew of
the case suggested the use of
Bradfield’s Female Regulator,
and although he stated that he knew of a similar case
being cured by it, and endorsed it highly himself, 1
was so discouraged I did not believe it would do her
any good; but as a last resort 1 bought a large bottle of
it and she began taking it, and from tne very first a
marked change took place. She begun to improve
rapidly, her appetite returned, her whole system was
built up, snd to-day she is as well and sound as ever
in her life, and I am under lifelong obligations to you
and your remedy, for it undoubtedly saved her life
and he added, “1 wish every lady in the world so af
flicted would try it, as I know it cure them.”
We Claim and can Prove Beyond a
Doubt,
by the highest and most undoubted testimony,
That this Remedy will cure all womb troubles'.
That this Remedy will cure luchorrhoea or whitea.
That this Remedy will restore the menstrual functions
That this Remedy will stop excessive monthly flow.
That this Remedy will relieve painful menstruation.
That this Remedy will build up the system as a tontc.
That this Remedy will cure all famale disorders.

GULLIBiLiTY.
The wild phantoms and shrieking cries of a worth
less humbug can make money by imposing upon the
credulity and ignorance of an honest and the
supply of this species of work seems more than an
adequate demand.
The enunciation of tacts—facta that have stood
crucial tests—-facts proven by brain force and tangi
ble evidence, should satisfy all laudable enterprises;
but the excrable habit of teaching false ideas and
doctrines for self aggrandizement is truly reprehensi
ble, and should be scorned by all classes.
When we tell 4 the public that B. B. 8., the great
Blood Poison Remedy, contains lodide of Potash as
one of its ingredients, and when we, as old members
of the medical profession, say that lodide of Potash is
not a poison, we think it very presumptive for men
outside of the profession to assert that it is a poison.
The facts do not warrant such a conclusion, and if
those who make the assertion that Potaifii is a poison
do not know better, they are a set of unenviable ig
noramuses.
Asa solid foundation of heavy masonry has been
built for B. B. 8., upon which it is now proudly
perched —the broken arches and fallen columns of
brazen humbugs will soon be in search of fresh
“cock and bull” ttories and [more printers’ ink, but
merit cannot be downed. Although B. B. B-is only
one year old, yet its effect—its magical and peerless
power over all blood, skin and kidney diseases, has
been indelibly enstamped upon the tablets of the
memory of thousands here at home, who have been
cured after having used hundreds of bottles of other
remedies.
Compared toother remedies,B. B. B. is the radient
sunbeam of midday, flinging its glittering glare to
saddened hearts, while others are pale moonbeams,
pushing along through misty meshes of darkness, in
search of something they cau cure.
It cures Blood Diseases and Poisons, Catarrh, Old
Ulcers, Scrofula, Rheumatism, Skin Diseases, Kidney
troubles, etc., and we hold a 32-page book full of evi
dence —Atlanta evidence —that cannot be doubted,
proving all we claim. Our certificates are not phan
tasm agorical, nor far-fetched, but are voluntary out
bursts of men and women of Atlanta.
