Petty politics and mere personal ambition
to hold office have no place In this most cost
ly and gigantic struggle. This is no time to
stir up strife and irtctlon. It Is a time when
every patriotic and peace-loving citizen
should work with the utmost endeavor to
brtng about perfect harmony and a united
puriKise among our people, everywhere, to
bring this cruel wartoasuccesstul conclusion
at the earliest time possible. Our brave boys
are making lhe supreme sacrifice on the bat
tlefields ol Prance. I feel that 1 should re
main at my post ol duty to assist in giving
these heroic sons ol freedom sud liberty every
needed support and to render every service
possible to their loved ones at home. Under
