Petty politics and mere personal ambition
to hold office have no place in this most cost
ly ami gigantic struggle. This is no time to
stir up strife and friction. It Is a time when
every patriotic and peace-loving citizen
should work with the utmost endeavor to
bring about perfect harmony and a united
purpose among our people, everywhere, to
bring this cruel war to a successful conclusion
at the earliest time possible, our brave boys
are making the supreme sacrifice on the bat
Ueflelds of France. 1 feel that I should re
main at ray post of duty to assist in giving
these heroic sons of freedom and liberty every
needed support and to render every service
possible to their loved ones at home. Under
these circumstances. It will not be possible
for me to see each of you in person, as much
as l would like to do so, and shall therefore
