THE BRUNSWICK DAILY NEW*. MW GET CONTRACT BRUNSWICK CONTRACTORS BID DING ON TATNALL COUN TY COURT HOUSE. Reidsville Paper is of the Opinion That Bowen Company Will Get the Contract. The ofllowing is taken from the Tatnall Journal, pubished at Reids ville, Ga: “As is known to our readers, the contract for building the new court house for Tatnall county will be awarded at the court house in Reids ville, Wednesday, January 15. - "From the ordinary we learn that there are sevral prospective bidders, among them some of the largest and wealthiest contractors in the south. In the list we see the name of W. H. Bowen & Cos., of Brunswick, a firm composed of W. rt. Bowen and R. E. Briesenick. We have known the lat ter gentjernan for eighteen or twenty years. He Is a large property owner of Brunswick proprietor of the Bruns wick Foundry and Machine Works, the Brunswick marine railway, and is one of- most reliable business men iD the state. “They are just completing a large building for the jekyl island club, to cost in the neighborhood of a motion dollars. They were also the con tractors and builders of the Bruns wick opera house, one of the most niagniflelent buildings in the City by the Sea. "As to the other bidders, we have not one word to say against them, as to their ability or inability to build for us a creditable building, but as to Messrs. Bowen and Briesenick, we know that, they are reliable; and if they should get the contract we can guarantee the people of Tatnall that thew will do exattly as they say and will build for us a court house that will be a credit to the builders, a money saver to the tax payers of Tat nall county and an ornament not only to our town and county, but to the entire section. Now, this is not an advertisement for W. H. Bowen , Cos.; we have never written a line or said a word to these gentlemen in regard to their bid, and have no idea what their bid will be, but one thing we know—we want to see a splendid court house in Reidsville, and knowing these gentle men as we do, we feel it a duty we owe the county to tell the taxpayers, for they are the one-s to pay for the work; what kind of hands our new court house will be in should Messrs. Bowen and Breiseniok be employed to do the work. They are reliable, have plenty of means to push the work forward, and if they secure the contract will build and complete it exactly as the plans and specifica tions call for. ISAAC, 208 and Newcastle Street. JANUARY 11, 1902 HOT ACTED UPON. CITY COUNCIL DID NOT TAKE UP LICENSES AT THE MEET ING LAST NIGHT. ..Not Known Whether Saloons Will Have to Pay S2OO or SSOO as License for 1902. The report of the license committee was not submitted to council last night and it is not known at what amount the liquor license will be placed. The saloon men are greatly interest ed in the matter, inasmuch as Mayor Emanuel has recommended that the license be raised trom S2OO to SSOO, and they are patiently awaiting the action of council. The recommendation of the mayor, however, will in all probability meet with a fight when the matter comes up for final action, as it Is a known fact that some of the aldermen are opposed to raising the license. Even if _ the license committee should report that the license be raised, a fight would be made against the adoption of the report. Just when the matter will come be fore council is not known, but it wil! be within the next two meetings. COLLINS A GLASS, Contractor* and Bidders. ..
