Davis is quite ill at his home on I.ee street. Mrs. C. B. Clyde spent yesterday in the city from St. Simon. Mr. J. B. Wright was in the city yesterday from St. Simon, Colonel C. P. Goodyear is confined to his home by illness. Mr. A. H. Leavy, of the News, spent yesterday in Camden county. Mr. D. P. Rose, of Owens Ferry, is in the city. Mr. W. H. Taylor, of Atlanta, spent yesterday in the city. Mr. R. A. McCranle, of Waycross, was in the city yesterday. Mrs. Ed. Pfeiffer and little daugh ter are vsiting relatives in Albany. Mr. G. F. Harvard, of Savannah, was registered at the Oglethorpe yes terday. The bad sidewalk on Bay street, between Mansfield and Monk, is being put in a good condition. Mrs. R. A. Mullins left yesterday to spend some time visiting in Al bany. General Manager McDuffie, of the B. & 8., has returned from a trip over Georgia and Alabama. Mr. Warren A. Fuller and wife re turned yesterday from a visit to St. Simon. Mr. S. S. Tennent, of Milledgeville, was a guest at the Oglethorpe yester day. Mr. Francis Bartlett and niece, Mrs. Guy Normon, a prominent society lady of Boston, arrived at Jokyl .yesterday and have taken apartments in the new annex. The Rev. Mr. Rede, of Delaware, will be a guest of the Silver Tea from 7:30 to 8:30 tomorrow evening at St. Mark’s rectory. B. H. Daniels, the real estate agent, 310 Newcastle street, has accepted the agency of the Acid Iron Mineral Cos., of Columbia, S. C. Smith was held before Referee Crovatt yesterday. Attorney D. W. Krauss represented the creditors and Attorney Max Isaacs represented Mr. Smith, Mr. C. W. Deming was elected trustee, and gave bond in the sum of $5,500, and - took immediate charge of the stock. Messrs. James S. Wright, L. H, Haym arid W. H. Two freight trains on the Seaboard Air Line collided yesterday at Rice borough. Reports are meager, but it is understood no serious damage was done. Burrow Badly Beaten. Burrow Jackson, the well known negro fisherman, was waylaid by two young negroes last night and badly beaten. Their object was to rob him but Burrow "happened to be broke.” Wanted in Tatnall. John Hendrix, a well known young white man, was arrested and taken to Tatnall county yesterday. It seems that Hendrix was indicted by the last Tatnall grand jury for selling whisky in the county. He was taken by the sheriff of Tatnali county. The Big Minstrels.
