Gould’s Yacht in Port.
The handsome yacht of Mr. Edwin
Gould .arrived in port, late yesterday
afternoon, with a party of millionaires
who will spend some time on Jekyl
inland.
Assessors at Work.
The board ow city assessors, com
posed of Messrs. <;. M. Tilton, J. W.
! Collins and H. It. Symons, started
to work yesterday morning. It -will
take about a month to complete the
work.
To Give a Pre-Social.
The ladies of tho Home Mission So
ciety, of the MeKendree Methodist
church, will give a pro social at the
residence of Mrs. Frank Grady’ tomor
row night The proceeds will go to
the church.
Cumberland in Court.
There is no doubt but that the law
suit between the Stafford heirs an.l the
Carnegies will be a lively affair. Mrs.
Lucy Carnegie has expended thous
ands of dollars in making her island
home beautiful, and we suppose she
stands ready to defend her title in a
vigorous manner.
His Brother Dead.
Mr. J. M. Ammons yesterday re
eelved a telegram fromSehlatterville,
announcing the death of his brother,
,\lr. VV. R. Ammons, which occurred
at that place at 6 o'clock yesterday
morning. The deceased was 20 years
of age.
Three Bound Over.
Fix young negro boys were given a
preliminary bearing before Justice
Lambright yesterday morning, charged
with robbing Larsen’s store last Sat
urday night. Three of them were
bound over to the City Court, under
the chage of larceny from the house.

LYCEUM ATTRACTION.

By a happy coincidence Dr 'Eugene
May, of Washington, D. C., the great
iectureT on Art, Travel and Adven
ture, has been secured as the fourth
attraction of the Lyceum course.
Next Thursday night he will deliver
his thrilling descriptive lecture on
“The Passion Play.” Nearly every
one has read something of the won
derful play as produced by the pious
villagers of Oberammorgau In Ba
varia every ten years. Dr. May is
eminently qualified to make it lively
before his hearers. He is said to be
the most vivid, eloquent, and realistic
descriptive lecturer on the American
plaltform. Members of tho Lyceum
course may begin to reserve scats to
morrow. Scats wili he on sale at pop
ular prices to' the public, Wednesday
and Thursday.
