When your girl Kicks you it is a case of being “Marconlzed.” An exchange says "we believe freo silver is dead.” We know it in. That wireless telegraph of Signor Marconi’s did not win out the girl. Mr. Croker’s wish that he should bo buried fn this country has been gratified. New York voters did it The Atlanta Journal says: “One thing is certain, nobody can steal the Hon. Pope Brown’s cane and cassava platform.” “TlnToffort to~increase'the salary of congressmen from $5,000.00 to $7,000.- 00 has failed. Even at the small sal ary of $5,000.00 the office does not seek the man. ” Ben. Tillman seems to have little faith In the supreme court. He said some days ago: M have read some of the supreme court uecisions, but. wieu four judges on one side and four on the other and the fifth wabbling I canot make much out of them." A THIEF OR A MARTYR? Some weeks ago an unfortunate citi zen of a western state suicided. This simple announcement is not out. of the ordinary, hut there is a story behind it. This suicide carried $50,000 in life insurance and it is by this that the story was made public. It seems that this unfortunate man had most of his insurance in one com pany and to lose such a great amount, although the premiums had been paid, was a great jar to the "home office. It was agreed oy the insurance com pany that the charge of fraud would be made and the contentions were that the dead man itendod ending his existence when he secured the insur ance, that he had a tamily of six children, an invalid wife and an aged mother to care for, and that he could not support them. For this reason the company asserts that it was a case of fraud because "the insured meant self-destruction when he pur chased the insurance.” How can this martyr be called a fraud? If there is pity in the human heart u should go out to him. He gave his life to save an Invalid wife, aged mother and six children—is he a fraud? “TIRED, SO VERY TIRED.” No doubt the average Brunswickian has heard that song, “I am tired, so very tired.” Weil, it hits us in the right spot. We “are tired.” Tired of giving advertising space—our stock in trade— to every Tom, Dick and Har ry. Tired of devoting our space to en tertainments free and seeing the man agers of these entertainments having their job work done by other offices. Tired of being the free horse. We have been “ridden” and “ridden” to to death. Tired of doing work free when we should charge for it, and hereafter ad vertising must be paid for. Would you think oi going into a store and asking for a shirt or a dol lar’s worth of sugar? The merchant would think you crazy. Yet you come to the News and ask for double that amount in advertising space. “We are tired; so very tired.” QUITS. GO AND REGISTER. Som Seem to be Careless About This Ma.ter.
