Flower Thieves. A large number of ladies are com plaining of flower theives and the po lice are on the lookout. It is as much harm to steal flowers as it is to steal anything else. Work of the Assessors. The city tax assessors are doing rapid work this year, and have al ready oomph ted their work in Old Town, Dixv.de and Habersham park. They will begin assessing in New Town today. In Bad Shape Yet. The Mergenthaler linotype in the News office has been out of shape for the past few days and is still giving a geat deal of trouble but it looks now like the matter will be arranged in a short time. Sale Postponed. The sale of the stock of shoes, hats and men's furnishing* goods in the bankruptcy case of .1, A, Smith was not held yesterday. The sale was postponed under orders from Hon. A. J. Crovatt, referee, and will be held at a later date. Notice of same will be given in Daily News. PONDER HEAVILY FINED IN THE CITY COURT. The only ease tried in the city court yesterday was that of George Ponder charged with keeping a lewd house. The case was commenced Tuesday and resumed yesterday morning. Both sides fought hard and It was a very interesting case. The jury returned a verdict of guilty and Judge Sparks Imposed a fine of $lOO and a sentence of nine months on the county chamgang. It is understood that Ponder will ap appeal the case. HELD FUNERAL SERVICES. Body of Mr. M. Isaac Shipped to New York for Burial. Funeral services owr tne body of Mr. Moses Isaac, who died Tuesday morning, were held at the family res idence on Union street at 4 o’clock yesterday afternoon. Rev. Marx, of Atlanta, officiating. The body was shipped to New r York last night ior burial and was escorted to the depot by a number of friends and by Ocean lodge No. 214, F and A. M„ of which Mr. Isaac was a mem ber. Following gentlemen acted as pai. bearers: Messrs. M. Kaiser, J. H. Mc- Cullough, C. P. Goodyear, C. L. Can dler, A. L. Franklin, A. Fernlig, R. R. Hopkins and Constant Miller.
