The papers devoted a great deal of space to the Hay-Whitney wedding. Quarry would go way back and sit down should Terrell aocept his chal lenge for a joint debate, g It is stated that New Jersey trolleys will have a New York terminal station connected by a tunnel under the Hud son river. The Washington (lnd.) Star says: “One beauty, at least, about Santos- Dumont's airship, is that It can be operated without risk of tunnel! dis asters" What does New York say. asks the Augusta Chronicle. There are some very artless people in the state of Maine., as is proven by the following paragraph: Will the per son who exchanged a very large old colon umbrella for anew silk one at the Methodist supper, last Wednesday night, as soon as they find out the mis take return the silk one to the ownei Fairiand Journal. The Tampa Times says: “Our neighbors and friends above the Geor gia line are having a bushel of fun over the gubernatorial campaign. From reading the Georgia papers now the principal issue in the campaign seems to be who is me second choice of Colonel Fstill and Colonel Guerry. All other Issues seem to have palled beside this leading one, which is no doubt extremely interesting. There are six George Washingtons in the house. Illinois and Indiana send two each and Alabama and New York one each. The next given name in favor is Henry Clay, of which there are three. There are two Benjamin Franklins and two Thomas Jeffersons. —Savannah Fress. Wonder if these. George Washingtons, Thomas Jeffer sons. Benjamin Franklins and Henry Clays ever bring to mind their famous namesake* ?—Columbu* Enquirer-Sun, HE ATTRACTED ATTENTION, Edward Biddle, the Pittsburg mur derer, Who, with his brother, made a bold dash for liberty, but was wounded bv his persuers, seems to have had a desperate hold upon susceptible women. There was something bad but something attractive in his wild nature which women could not resist. He was handsome and seemed to possess hypnotic power. Mrs. Sof ,fel, the warden’s wife, was so much infatuated with him that she had fal len completely under his spell. She supplied him with dainties from her own table, and frequenty visited him in his cell. When Biddle was charged with killng Fitzgerald, the detective, the widow of the murdered mail' became so Interested in him that she was made to believe bis story and tried to have him reprieved. Biddle apparently ex ercised the same influence over Mrs. Soffel as he bad over Mrs Fitzgerald. There is yet another woman iu the the case. A mysterious young person called on Governor Stone in Harris burg January Bth, and pleaded for a respite for the Biddles, who has been sentenced to hang January 14. Slu wan a woman of respectability in Pittsburg. Shortly after the, visit of the un named girl the governor respited the Biddles in order to allow them an opportunity to get their case before the pardon board. John, who was to have ben hanged January 11. was respited until February 26. and Ed ward, who was to have bo-n hanged January IC, was n spited until Feb ruary 27. REFLECTIONS OF A BACHELOR. A man of strong will can make any woman do anything he wants her to do. A little bit of sweetness comes out of a kiss every time you take it off of the same lips. It isn't necessary for a man to be a hypnotist in order to get his mind concentrated on Tne toothache. The same woman who lias money enough to have her red hair called golden tresses can steal and have It called kleptomania. Nine men out of ten who start at the top reach the bottom, hut nine out of ten who stall at the bottom stay there. If some preacher was only smart enough to put a side door in his church he would have it filled vii men who would go it for force of habit. When a very young man begins to know how much less he knows than lie thinks he knows then he knows some thing that is really wore,, knowing. Brunswick will not get interested in the gubernatorial fight until we tear some speeches. ADMINISTRATOR S SALE. G ICO KG lA—Glynn County.
