The board of assessors of tne city
of Brunswick have this day filed their
return of assessments for the year
1902 in the office of the undersigned,
as required by law. "Twenty days
(20) days, from March 1, are allowed
in which to file complaints against
property so assessed. Such com
plaints must he in writing, on such
complaint being made fhe assess
ment. complained of shall be immedi
ately referred to three arbiters, one
choren by the Mayor and council, one
by the party complaining, the third by
tha two so chosen, whose award sliail

the Hon. Alfred J. Crovatt, referee in

property, both real and personal of

limits of the city of Brunswick or
who are engaged in any sort of bus
iness, shall furnish the clerk with a
return under oath of all property
both real and personal in said city,
owned or controlled by him, her or
them on the day designated by the
law of the city.” * * *
“Any person making a return of
real property, may at the time ot
making such return with the con
sent of the Mayor and council, direct
in writing that his return as to par
cels of real estate included therein
shall stand and be his return of the
same for every years thereafter and
until lie shall alter such his return
b> adding other parcels thereto or

cels included in the same.” * * *
“All persons transferring or acquir-
ing real property shall notify the
clerk in writing of the fact of such
tiansfer, and the names of the trans

notified to the clerk then the same
may be taxed as the property of th
person last returning samel and shall
be subject in like manner as if no

Referring to the above extracts from
Sections 61 and 336 of the City Code,
I beg to notify the public that the re
turn book will be opened March 1.
Notice of transfers must be in by
April I, and all property must be re
turned by May 1, on which dav
books will be closed.
