New Subdivision.
Congressman Brantley is Working
For It.
Savannah, (Ja., Match 17. —An effort
is afoot to aireate anew subdivision
of the United States court ot the
southern district ot Georgia.
Information reached Savannah from
Washington today, showing that a bill
is new receiving the consideration of
the judiciary committee ot the house,
to which it was referred The bill,
which was introduced by Congress
man Brantley, purposes the taking the
counties of llei-atur. Thomas, Brooks.
\\ are. Kehols, Coffee, Berrien, Lown
des. Pierce, Clinch and in fact all the
southwest counties which the last cen
sus shows have grown so rapidly in
population and in wealth, and putting
them in anew division to be known
as the southwestern division of the
southern District of Georgia, with
court headquarters at Valdosta. Early
and Miller counties, if the bill passes,
are to be taken from the western divis
ion of the southern district.
