Emory Speer has designated the Brunswick Daily News as the official organ of the United States Court, In bankruptcy proceedings, for Glynn county. i ■- 1 ■ PUBLISHERS NOTICE. The News Publishing Company de sires it to be distinctly understood that nil legal advertisements must be paid for In advance. We cannot afford to devote our s trace to such advertise ments and wait on the courts for the money. Candidate Guerry will soon win the title of "Terrible Dupont” if his ti rades continue. Brunswick is to have a tig revival next month. Candidate Guerry should change Ills itinerary accordingly. The political pot In Glynn county seems to be in good temper, which is one of the best signs of the sea son. Col. D. B. Sweat has retired from the active management of the Way cross Journal. May success attend him wherever he goes. The local drtfggists of Tampa, ac cording to the Tribune of that city, have made a deal to hold prices in lino. 1b this a small-sized trust? It is just possible that the news papers may decline to consider themselves crushed, notwithstanding General Fussy Pension. Secretary of Agriculture Wilson will begin bin tour of inspection of Georgia and adjoining states the sec ond week in April. What the governor of North Caro lina said lo (lie governor of South Carolina, outs very little figure in Rome these days. Senator Fairbanks is spoken of as a presidential possibility in 1904. Now look out for Teddy to give Fair banks a ealldown. Newspaper readers of the United States will not soon forget President Roosevelt for causing the word "stren uous" to be overworked. The chorus girls have formed a union and the Johnnies will now have to look for the label. The girls won’t kick on this, however. Since the executive committee has fixed the date ror holding the state primary, toe gubernatorial campaign has taken on new life, and all the candidates for the office are now hust ling harden than ever. l’he fact that fifty-seven sturdy Hermans have recently emigrated to Brunswick and will follow farming Pursuits, is in a measure, the realiza tion of the old dream that all farmers landing in Cattle garden, do not nee essarily have to go west to make a livelihood. Verily the south is an Eldorado for the farmer. Hon. Albert Cox. of Atlanta, will deliver the oration in this city April 26, incident to the unveiling of the Confederate monument. Mr. Cox is an eloquent talker, and a literary treat is in store for Brunswicktans generally. News comes from Washington that Congressman Brantley has succeeded in persuading the weather bureau to furnish Brunswick with daily tele grams on the condition of the weath er. Brantley is always doing some thing for his constituents. A NEAT COMPLIMENT. The Athens Banner, in a recent is sue throws the following handsome hot house collection at Congressman Brantley, of this district: "Georgia has a congressman of rare ability in Hon. W. G. Brantley, of the Eleventh district. The people of that district did well in choosing him as the successor of Henry G. Turner and he bids fair to rise to the position of eminence held by that distinguished Georgian by the time he lias held the office a few more years. Mr. Brantley has recently delivered in the house a remarkable speech on the subject of the Cuban tariff. This speech is regarded by his democratic colleagues as the ablest speech on that subject so far made. It is a thorough resume of all the arguments in favor of fair dealing with Cuba, shows a thorough and masterful comprehen sion of the subject and cannot fail to do good. It was a speech that thor oughly refuted all the claims of the opposition and placed them in a hole from which it. will be difficult for them to extricate themselves. Mr. Brantley is a graduate of the University of Georgia and has many friends in Athens who note with pleas ure the splendid service he is giving his state in congress.” Congressman Brantley is rapidly forging to the front in the coun cils ami his party, and the national reputation he is making is a source of gratitude to his constituency. Savannah has at last received her bridge, so far as the house is con cerned, now if some fellow in the sen ate does not do the “pull ai t.” then all well and good. The candidacy of Capt. Wney Wil liams, of Columbus, for pension com missioner, lias been announce 1 and Is being well received In all sections of the state. Capt. Williams is well and favorably known iu Brunswick and lias many friends in this section, win won!.’ I:.:e to tie film elected to the position to which ho aspires.
