Miller & den, THE BRLNfcWICK DAILY NEWS WAS WELL RENDERED ENTERTAINMENT AT THE OPERA HOUSE LAST NIGHT A BIG SUCCESS. Last night’s entertainment was one of the most enjoyable, home talent affairs of the season. A large audi ence witnessed the performance at the Grand for the benefit of the Li brary. Part I. opened with a song by Mr. R. E. Sherman “Good Bye Summer,” which was loudly applauded. “The Trials of a Flirt,” a aketrti in three scenes, participated in by a number of young ladies and gentle men, each of whom played their re spective parts to perfection, was the next feature. Misses Lucille and Leslie Butts were splendid, as were Miss Retta' McCullough, Messrs. B. P. Coleman, as Jack Benton, the flirt, and Chas: Fleming, as his friend. This play was generously applauded. One of the best features of the program was the Pickaniney song and nance, from ine Runaway Girl,” by Miss Keta Kaiser and Mr. S. K Brown. These participants were dressed in picturesque negro cos tume and with the black face3 and calcium light effect made an excellent specialty. Mr. Jacobie, who was to have giv en bis monologues, was unavoidably detained by the late arrival of the Cumberland boat, and was unable to vlo his turn. By special request Mr. R E. Sher man sang "Warrior Bold, which was well received. The last, and by far the greatest of all tue program, was the roaring and laughable farce "My Turn Next. L. H. Haym, as “Twitters,” did full justice to the. roll, and was pro nounced by many of those present as among the best characters in the farce. Miss Penniman, as Lydia, the wife of Twittefs, and B. J. Butts, as his assistant, both acquitted themselves admirably. 'I no other member of the dramatic personage, including Miss Blanton, as “Cecely," S. K. Brown, as “Tom Trap, Miss Rita Kaiser, as “Peggy," and Mr. Albert Banks, as “Farmer Wheaton." were good, and were re peatedly encored. All in all, the affair was a great sue cess, anil in every sense was worthy of the liberal patronage it received. By special request the performance In its entirety will be repeated at a matinee Performance at 3 o’clock this afternoon, and those who would enjoy a delightful recreation should attend. Admission today 10c for children, 25c for adults. Carter Has Malarial Fever. Leavenworth, Kan.. April 7. —Ma- larial fever has developed in the ease of former Captain Oberlin M. The song service at the Presby terian church on Sunday evening reached everyone’s idea of the truly beautiful. -he notes of organ, piano and violin blended sweetly with six teen well trained voices, making a grand melody, the equal of which Brunswick congregations rarely have an opportunity to hear. The churon was crowded, many being obliged to stand during the service. Rev.
