COUNCIL
MEETING
QUITE A LOT v-F BUSINESS WAS
TRANSACTED—TWO FRAN
CHISES GRANTED.
City council met in regular session
last night and transacted a large
amount of business. On account of
the iate hour of adjournment it was
impossible to publish the official pro
ceedings.
The most important matter trans
acted was the granting the street car
franchise. With a few' provisions the
ordinance was passed as published
last Friday mointhg.
There was some little opposition,
not against the franchise, but against
some parts of it- One provision add
ed provide* that the city shall have
authority to examine the books of the
company, as they are to get a per
tentage of ihe gross receipts.
The ordinance granting C. J.
O’Farrell permission to construct
poles in the city for n s electrical
power was also passed.
Rev. Hollingsworth appeared before
the body in the interest of the taber
nacle. and tbe lot opposite the Mans
field street school building was given
them for the purpose of erecting the
building.
Other minor matters were also
transacted at the meeting. The official
