THE BOARD
RESOLUTIONS PASSED YESTER
DAY COMMENDING ACTION OF
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS.
The hoard of trade met In regular
weekly session in their rooms at the
city nail yesterday morning. Quite
a large number of the membera were
present and the meeting was a very
interesting one.
Among other business transacted,
the board passed respljitlons com
mending the county, commissioners
for appropriating SI,OOO to assist in
locating new enterprises In Bruns
wick and Glynn county. The resolu
tion was as follows:
Whereas the board of commis
sioners of road and revenue, has set
aside one thousand dollars ($1,000),
to oe used this year in further in new
enterprises In Glynn county.
Resolved that the board of trade
commends most hearty the progres
\ -sive public spirit shown by the com
missioners, and assure them that we
will never can on them for any mon
ey except to put into develop—
that will reimburse the county many
times over in increased taxes there
from.
Resolved that copy of this resolu
tion be furnished the commissioners
and copy to the press.

The pretty little yacht Jessie, owned
by Major Wilkins, was in port for a
short while yesterday with a pleas
ant party of young people.
The Darien tug Iris Is now on
Briesemick’s marine railway and is be
ing thoroughly overhauled.
The steamer Hessle has resumed
her regular run to Darien after laying
up for a few days and being over
hauled.
NOTES ABOUT TOWN.
The employes of the Plant System
in this city yesterday received their
cheekß from headquarters, and the
merchants easily observed that the big
system had paid off.
Mr. B. J. Berrle, of this city, and
Miss Julia Gray, of St. Simon, were
married Wednesday night at the home
of the bride’s sister in this city.
Chae. Clark, the well known col
ored barber, has just had his place
thoroughly renovated and fixed up
generally and he now has one of the
neatest little barber shops so lie
state.
There will not he any more attrac
ilons at the opera house this season.
The managers had one more company
booked for t'nree nights, but the at
traction has been canceled.
Work of clearing the Clapp farm
is stilt progressing rapidly. All the
largo trees and stumps have already
keen removed, and the force 1b now
nt uoik digging up palmetto roots.
The residence is also about completed.
It Is understood that both Jthe sup
porters of Judge Crovatt and Mr. Sy
mons will hold meetings next week.
Tnis contest will doubtless grow very
interesting within the next tew weeks.
A subscription Is being passed

ball team to raise money to purchase
balls, Tints, etc. Tne list has been left
at the Hunter-Sale drug company, and
the hoys ask all who are in sympathy
with the movement to aid them a lit

Albany trip.

BISHOP CANDLER COMING LATER
Illness Prevents Him From Being in
Brunswick Sunday.
Bishop Warren A. Candler, of At
lanta, was scheduled to oecuply the
pulpit at the First Methodist church
Sunday, but Rev. Game yesterday re
ceived a letter saying that, on ac
count of illness, it would be impos
sible for him to fill the engagement.
The letter stated, however, trfkt the
bishop would visit Brunswick at a
later date, or as soon as possible.
Bishop Candler U foremost among
the bishops of the country, an?) a

signed his position as electrician or

an experienced electrical and mechan
ical engineer, has been appointed in
his place; and will be electrician and
superintendent ot the electric plant
trom this date. Mr. leathers is a na
tive Georgian, and will c.ndeavor to
please and satisfy the patrons of the
plant in every way. He will occupy
a room at the Plant, and after a lew
days it wilt be so arranged that he
can he notified by 'pnone at any hour
