The fate of the local candidate will
soon he "known.
Brunswick is now going forward
in substantial fashion.
General Miles seems to he having
a hard time holding on to his job un
til the age limit is reached. That
Washington gang is hard to beat.
Candidate Guerry has jumped on
everythiny and everybody in Georgia
and the fact that that he desires to he
governor of such a set is indeed
very surprising.
News comes from Washington that
Postmaster General Payne Is contem
plating the building of a political Ilia
chine, the material to lie used being
Hie seventy thousand fourth-class
postmasters. Bather a startling ru
mor. considering the avowed claim of
Roosevelt that “purity" is essential
to his political life.
President Roosevelt denies that he
expressed disapproval of the French
decorations which are to ho tendered
to Admiral Dewey and General Miles
and the controversy over the latest
Miles incident has given rise to the
further report that if the responsibil
Ity for the publication of 4he false
statement can be traced to General
Miles, the president will carry out
liis original intention of compulsory
retiring him from the army.

TRIUMPHS OF SCIENCE.
The eye and the ear have long been
regarded as marvels of mechanism,
quite the most wonderful things in the
world. But compared with the im
plements of a present day laboratory
the sensitiveness of all human organs
seems gross enough. A photographic
plate, coupled with a telescope, will re

whose light does not affect the retina
in the least. The microscope, (no, with
