Adjourned Regular Meeting. Brunswick. Ga„ May 29, 1902. Present —Hon. N. Emanuel, mayor. Aldermen Newman, du Bignon. MeGar-. vey, Franklin, Kaiser and Taylor. Absent —Alderman Calhoun and Cook. Minutes of meetings May 8 and 22 read and confirmed. The mayor announced as committee on* charter revision, Aldermen Frank lin. Cook and Newman, with the city attorney. Petitions. From board of education for the ma terial in the old unfinished market building, corner Newcastle and Mans field streets. Referred to committee on public works and buildings. From Chas. Baumgartner lor per mission to erect frame) metal roof shed at aide door of iris ice factory. Referred to committee on police, fire and building permits. From W. H. Bowen, contractor, to erect two frame dwellings on Old Town lots No. 267 and 308 respective ly for F, D. M. Strac'uon and C. L. Candler, Granted. The followoing motions prevailed: That the three bids received from J. H. Dilifsworth and Cos., J. I J . Lewis and Chris Short for the material in the old Baptist church be rejected., That ibo city’s title to the old Bap tist church property be investigated by the city atttorney and a report made at next meeting of council. That petition of First African Bap tist church, for permission to put in temporary closet on their premises tie refused. That the tax title of the city to New Town lot No. 2509, be referred to the committee on taxes and revenues, re port made at next meeting of coun cil. That Burroughs and Whitfield be granted additional time oi one week from date in which to tear down walls of the old Mi nth an stables, and put premises in sanitary condition. That the bids received for furnish ing street signs be referred to commit tee on public works to report at next mi nting of council. IS ... and n is hereby resolved, liy (be mayor and aldermen of tlihe city of Brunswick, in council assembled, that from and after the passage of this resolution, all purchases of sup plica for the several departments of I lie city shall he made subject to the following regulations: t. Sunperintendentsand chiefs of the various departments of the city shall make written itemized requisition* on the first day of each montii for all such articles and supplies as may be necessary for their departments for the ensuing month. These requi sitions shad be submitted to the com mittees in charge of such departments for approval. 2. Sal ! requisitions when approved by the committees ir. charge of such departmejnts shall be handed to the purchasing committee, whose duty it shall he to purchase said articles and supplies to the best advantage of the ■ty. 3. In caacs of emergency, where purchases are necessary after the first of the month, chiefs of departments ami superintendents shall make re quisition in writing directly on the purchasing committee who shall have authority to purchase the articles so required, provided, the cost of the same does not cxocc.jf ten dollars for eaceh deparement without appro val of department committee: hut such emergency purenase, if in excess of $lO for each department shall be first submitted to department committees for approval. 4. The clerk shall notify all super intendents and chiefs of departments of the provisions of this resolution, furnish them with appropriate blanks tor said and instruct them that no bills will be paid by the city for purenases made otherwise than in accordance with said provisions.
