Th.l Missionary Baptist Convention of Gelrgfa, met with the First African Baptist church, this.city, in its 32J an ntial session yesterday. The object of this gathering of negro Baptists is to foster a college, established by them in Macon in 1885 by the late Dr. K. K. Lov.‘. They had the introductory sermon by Rev. \Y. 1.. Jones, subject, “Intelligent manhood." At the close of the morning sermon the welcome address and the response to the same were l delivered. The president’s animal add rows was delivered and was full of helpfull sug gestions and thought. The officers, President. G. M. Sprat ling, pastor of Bryant Baptist church, of Brunswick without any dissension were elected: First vice-president. Rev. N. B. Wil liamson, of Bainbridge; second vice, president, Rev. Peter Hunter, of New Providence; bird vice-president, Ilqv. N. 11. Whitmore, of Savannah; fourth vice-president, Rev. W. L. Jones, of Atlanta; secretary, Rev. J. A Kirk, land cf Thomasvtlle; assistant, C. Ebbs, of Savannah; treasurer. Rev. K. Man son, of Americus , and corresponding secretary, Rev. Dr. S. A. McNeal. of Cuthbert. Rev. W. A. Mabry, white, then made a speech representing the Christian Index, tliei great religious weekly of the white convention. It was well re ceived.
