Judge T. A. Parker, of Baxley, who
Ims boon elected judge of the Bruns
wick circuit, is a sound lawyer and
van able jurist and will unquestionably
make the circuit a splendid Judge.
We cofigro/tulate him on his splendid
victory.
Tho election of Hon. Thomas W.
Hai\lwick to congress in the tenth dis
trict, is a source of satisfaction to hU
friends in this section of t'ne state. He
is an able young democrat and will
he a valuable acquisition to the Geot v
gin delegation in congress.
Thursday’s election makes it appar
ent that Brunswick should have more
tiian one voting precinct. There is no
reason why the managers and clerks
should ho compelled to do double ser
vice ami we respectfully suggest, that
this matter be considered by the exec,
utlve committee and the hoard of coun
ty commissioners
A good many years ago, when Jay
Gould wrote his check for J 2.000.000.
the fame of so extraordinary event
went round the world and when a few
years later W, H. Yandebril gave a
single order on ‘nts bank for $0,000,-
000 the utmost limit in this direction
But recently J. l irpont Morgan wrote
a check for the amazing sum of $25,-
000,000.
Col. J. H. Estill deserves to be con
gratulated on the splendid fight he
made in Brunswick and Glynn county
and it is to be hoped that the result of
placing t’nis county in his column wlil
forever set at rest, the old idea that
Brunswick is opposed to auything in
Savamia'n and vice versa. Georgia's
two great seaports are and of right,
should be good friends.
BUSINESS AND POLITICS.
Is it not a little curious that the.
game of politics cannot be carried on
in a spirit of good natured rivalry and
without the. loss of temper.
H is to be regretted that in this
county, when a political contest is on,
for opposing candidates* to take sides
ami carry their war beyond politics
to the field of social and business life.
Those who today are friends and
fellow democrats are tomorrow, by,
reason of the candidacy or some other
friend for office, enemies and cease
all social relations and b.-is ness con
nections. They ceasse in many cases
to speak as they pass by and stop
trading with one another.
Politics only occupy part of the time
of a part of the community. For many
months, therefore, the relations among
the people of the community should
be of the, utmost friendliness and
amity. Tne few days of political strife
should not of the kind that imperils
the welfare of the community for the
rest of the long time that politics do
not require attention.
The fight for office Siam id be sharp,
fierce and decent. But we should still
Jff
remain good friends and good neigh
bors, exchanging social courtesies as
usitall and eontluiug business relations,
and when the contest is over shake
hands and stop the strife.
It is only the small soul who will
dp otherwise.
Women an^lewels.
Jewels, candy, powers, man—that
Is the order of a woman's preferences.
Jewels form a magnet of mighty pow
er to the average woman. Even that
greatest of all jewels, health, is often
ruined In the strenuous efforts to make
or save the money to purchase them.
If a woman will risk her health to
get a coveted gem, t„en let her fortify
herself against the lrisiduoua conse
quences of coughs, colds and bronchia
Affections by the regular use of Dr.
Boschee’s German Syrup. It will
promptly arrest consumption in its
early stages and heal the affected
lungs and bronchial tubes and drive
the dread disease from the system.
It is not a cure-all, but it is a certain
cure for coughs, colds and all bron
chial troubles. You can get Dr. O.

ts give my experience with it. A few
months ago I caught a severe cold, hav
ing been out in inclement weather, which
settled all over me, particularly in the
abdomen. I was in almost constant pain.
I consulted a physician and took his
medicine for a month and without any
relief. I then decided I would try your
medicine and it was a lucky day for me
when I did so. I noticed a change in a
few days and felt encouraged to continue
taking Wine of Cardui, and my patience
was rewarded, for in two weeks my pains
had left me and I felt like anew woman.”
