NEW COMPAN AT WORK.
Manager O’Farfdl Now Han Ever/,
thing ir. Sh joe.
TVie Brunswick Electrical Supply
company finally succeeded in getting
their plant in running order yesterday
aftOToon and the power was put on
over the city.
The fans which have been installed
in many business houses in the city,
were put in operation and r'cej v • i
cd very satisfactorily to ail. They
add greatly to appearance of the
places and make one feel as though
lie is at the seashore.
The Itgths are clear and strong
and show that Mr. O’Farrell intends
giving the people a first ( lass service
in every respect.
This new eomapny has had consid
erable trouble in getting under way.
First, the engine! was delayed in arriv
ing. tlien thty toad considerable trou
ble in getting it in running order in
the Kaiser building on Gloucester
street. When every thug was in read
iness to begin work a wees ago Mr.
O'Farrell was notified by Mr. Kaiser,
owner of the building, that lie would
have to move.
With that same energy and enter
prise which has marked Mr. O'Farrell
and ills associates since they began
work, another building was purchased.
Uie entire plant removed and now ev
try thing is in running order.
The people of Brunswick appreciates
this kind of work and should give the
new company a liberal patronage.
FAST STEAMSHIP SERVICE.
Syndicate Will Bring Strong Competi
tion to Bear on Morgan Combine.
London, dune 0. The negotiations
of the British and Canadian govern
ments and some of the other colonial
governments with the Cunard line and
other lines comprising what is now
termed the Liverpool syndicate, which
is opposing tile Morgan shipping com
bine, contemplates, according to the
Westminster Gazette, both a fast ser
vice of mail an* passenger steamers
in (-injunction witli the Canadian Fa
eifle railroad and a Meet of last freight
steamers.
The mail steamers which it is pro
posed to 'build will be of enormous
size, capable of steaming 25 knsls an
hour, and will he fully eiiuipped for use
as armed cruisers, carrying eight quick
firing. Cinch guns, forward and aft,
and broadsides of three 4.7-inch guns
The freight steamers will he 16-knot
vessels, carrying 6.000 to 7,000 tons,
dead weight.
The Westminster Gazette thinks it
probable that MUfordhaven will he the
port of departure of the Meet. The
scheme contemplates a line of steam
ers running to China. Japan and Aus-
Vancouver. B. C.
