THURSDAY MORNING Ice Boxes, Refrigerators White Mountain Refrigerators have a perfect system of cola air cir culation founded on scientific principles. 11 a refrigerator is not built just right it will not false long for the extra ice consumed to cat up the cost. White Mountain Refrigerators have duplex civ.-nttoton and arc tln.r otignly clean. Scientific investigation demosntrates that dry air is abso lutely essential to the proper preservation of food, for with dampness de composition immediately sets in and food becomes spoiled. All ordinary refrigerators have a defective syst -m of circulation, which causes this dampness; but by our system the air passes' completely over the ice. und> i the ice. and around the ice, not oillv giving Ibis air the longest possible contact with the ice, but enabling it to discharge the impure qualities gathered from the provision chamber in such a manner that the refriger aior gets the full benefit of the purifying nual iti(-s of the -ice. in our re frigerators meats and all perishable aitit'ks can be preserved for a long space of time. June 16.—Correspondence of the Associated Press. —Events are marching with giant strides in the country of Bolivar. President Castro, of Venezuela, has been forced to ret ognize that the Matos revolution is no: a myth, for his best troops are beaten daily by the revolutionary forces, and at the present hour, from north to south, from east to west, the country is rising as one man against Castro. General Matos, who likewise enti ties himself president, has personally taken command of the revolution and was on June 1 at Orica, -0 leagues dis tant from Carupano, marching toward Caracas with an army which some per sons estimated at 5,"00 men and oth ers at 7,500. Deadly Struggle Predicted. To believe, however, that lie will reach the capital and take possession of the presidency without a deadly struggle would be an illusion. General Castro is preparing to offer resistance aud holies to bar the invasion either in the plains of Carabobo or in the valley of the Toy. This is not the only direction in which the president's political horizon is menaced. Coro, Valencia and liar- quismeto are ail more or less in the power of the revolutionists. At Coio Generals Piera and Solagni have af fected a junction and are absolute masters of the environs. Revolution ary troops enter the city of Valencia every night and as the town is iu longer lighted give themselves up to all sorts of reprisals. Even l.aQuira, the port of Caracas, is attacked night ly by armed bands, who, on the night of May 27, killed the military chief of Maiquotia before his own door. Ail this is hard fact, and will give a vague idea of the social condition of Vene zuela All these hands only await the approach of Matos’ army to their dis tricts to hasten to join him Castro's Arbitrary Acts. President Castro’s political conduct leads to the belief that before his de parture he will indulge in the commit tal of all sorts of extra arbitrary acts. He lias lately suppressed the news papers 151 Tiempo and l.al,interna, ar rested the manager of the Hank of Caracas, Mr. Castillo, imposed on the widow of the late Guzman Blanco a forced war contribution of one million and lias arrested the president of con gress, General Tosta Garcia, and the president of the Soeiete Francaise, Mr. DeVidale Rigo, a highly respe: ted man, on very slight suspicion. Such is the way in which he treats his supposed enemies. He has also caused his faith ful officer, Genera) Davila, the van quisher of KlMooho, to he nrn ;ted af ter a very violent scene at the palace of Miraflores, during which linvllo re. preached him with his ingratitude. The relation of these facts will prove the nature of the atmosphere in which Venezuelans and foreigners resident In Venezuela are obliged to live. Ev erybody I* expecting the imposition of a forced war contribution, llusiness is paralyzed and tin- banks are without specie. The Hank of Caracas, the cap ital of which is (1,000,00(1 bolivars (a bolivar is equivalent, to about 20 cents) has only 125.000 bolivars in its coffers: that is to say about $25,000. Whatever may he the result of Ilia revolution, General Castro said to one of his intimate friends a few days ago: “I shall show' them that I am neither Anueza nor Andrade, whom they sent to I.aOuira In a basket. If 1 leave my palace at. Miraflores it will be feet foremost.” GEORGIA, Gi.VXN COUNTY. To all whom It may concern: J. M. In this day of advanced ideas and improved meuiods of conducting all branches of business the use of the typewriter machine lias become so universal that a young man, or wo man seeking to secure a position where intellect and education, rather than bodily strength are required, iiiuls the knowledge of typewriting al most an essential qualification, and it is therefore not only commendable iu parts but it is really a dtuy they owe their children to afford them an opportunity of acquiring this profes sion, or a fair knowledge of if, in or der that should they desire, or be forced by necessity to support them selves. theyj will enter on their bus iness career well equipped in this par ticular to compete successfully for positions where knowledge or experi ence of this character are among the requisites'. Stenography is also of intestimable value to a young person desirous of embarking in a business career, and the time is not far distant wnen it will be added to the curriculum of our common schools and colleges. A knowledge of typewriting can, how ever, often be utilized to advantage withot shorthand, whereas the reverse is seldom the case, while the art of manipulating a typerwtiter is :so- eas ily acquired that any boy or girl of ordinary intelligence can spin master it. A father could not do his son (or daughter) a. greater service than to place at his disposal a typewriter machine, whereby he can not only ac quaint himself with its utje, hut im prove his spelling, his grammar, his -.punctuating, etc,, and store his mind with much other useful and practical informatin which will stand him in good si cad us a business man, no mat te!) what branch lie may enter. The United States government, through the modiuf of the Civil Ser vice, is offering handsome salaries for expert typewriters and sicnograpners, and yet many good positions remain unfilled for the lack of them.
