A Cuban patriot for reveling l only,
Is the way history will record General
Gomez.
That liber factory would be a good
acquisition to the commercial inter
est of the city, and it Is to be hoped
that It will come here.
It seems to a man up a tree, that
Pleasant Stovall, of the Savannah
PresH, eon have the speakership or
the house for the asking.
And l now that congress has decided
upon the Panama route, it is to lie
hoped that the price of the well-known
hat of that name will he reduced.
A western lover who was singing
“Good Morning, Carrie,” beneath her
window was shot by an irate neighbor
who claimed he thought it was n
tom eat.
And after all, the Atlanta Const!
tut lon comes pretty near being the
best moring paper In the South, and
can generally be counted on for re
liable news on any and all subjects.
From all indications Judge F. Willis
Dart, of Douglas, has a very good
chance of being appointed judge of
the superior court of the Brunswick
circuit to till the unexpired term or
Judge Bennett. Judge Dart is an old
Brunswick hoy, and has a large cir
cle of friends in this city who would
be glad to see him appointed to the
position.
The meeting of the board of trade
yesterday was quite an interesting
one. The proposition of Dr. rliitten
(ton regarding his fiber factory
was considered, and committees
were appointed to look into
the matter and report back to
the board. We favor small factories,
and hope the l board will see its way
clear to make the concessions asked
by the fiber company. At the same
time, of course, the best Interest of
the city should at all times be con
sidered as paramount to all others,
THE ILLNESS OF THE KING.
Tiie people who will be the worst
disappointed over the postponement
of the coronation of King Edward
•ire the Americans and /Embassies
from ail parts of the world now in
London to witness the notable event.
It is the unexpected which happens,
and no one could have forotoM the
dramatic suddenness with which the
king was stricken. In fact, it was so
sudden that the revelers, accoiding
to the cablegrams, di,l no* appreci
ate the gravity of the king’s malady.
The people go on with their feasting
and drinking, not understanding that
the king may never see his coronation
day.
The cause of King Edward’s illness
was primarily thought to be the dis
ease known as appendicitis. But the
surgeon’s knife reveals that the ap
pendix is healthy, and very unexpect
edly a large abress in t’no caecum was
discovered. Before the operation the
king had boon suffering intense pain
in his abdomen. The surgeon’s of the
king believe that he would have been
dead before now IT it had not boon
for the operation. It will be some
weeks before the royal patient is out
of danger. Untoward symptoms are
liable to set in any day. Yet the
recovery may Ik* straightforward and
rapid. >
The sympathy of the world goes
out to the British nation in the ealam.
nity that lias befallen tboir monarch.
The hopes mid prayers of the people
are that his life will be spared and
(lint he will be restored to good
health.

Who was Almost Crazed with
Pain and Suffering.
It is well known that terrible rheu

specific for the cure of all forms of
rheumatism and neuralgia. Thou
sands of strong testimonial letters
from the most prominent people of
the land prove that Paine’s Celery

treatment had failed. Mrs. Margaret
