A canvas attributed to Kemhrant, a painting of exceptional quality, oas been discovered in Chicago. It is the property of William A. Cunning ham. This picture, displays ill a marked degree the qualities whicii characterized this famous master fine ’draughtsmanship, admirable and individual technique, rich color. The subject, the head of a venerable Turk was a favorite one wit’u Rembrandt. The head is life .size and the turban of rich Persian stuff, in which it is swathed, is surmounted by a red fez. The canvas is in a perfect, state of preservation, and it hears a date which indicates that It represents the great Tinted master's best period, it was brought to this country several years since by a Holland artist, who stated that it once adorned the walls of a mansion in The Netherlands. The painter, desiring to return to Holland, sold toe picture to Mr. Coimlnghom. It, was in had condition. The load of the subject, with bis gray beard, and white drapery, was almost ob scured by several coats of opaque dead varnish which were removed by its present owner, who also n lined the canvas. Mr. Cunningham has made a study of the old masters and has be come an expert in their restoration. Rembrandt's brush Is so distinctive that a question of authenticity is im possible.- Record-1 (of-ald. Interesting Suits. The suit of J. Ertrowitoh against the Southern railway company and the S. A.
