Emory Bpeer has designated the Brunswick Dally News as the official organ of the United States Court, In bankruptcy proceedings, for l.iyrm cbunty. PUBLISHERS NOTICE. The News Publishing Company de sires It to be distinctly understood that all legal advertisements must be palJ for In advance. We cannot afford to devote our space to such advertise ments and wait on the courts for the money. The News, desires the subscribers who are behind in their subscriptions to come up and pay at once as their papers will be discontinued unless a settlement is made. It Is unfair and unjust to make The News send you a paper and then when the collector Calls refuse to pay for It. General Wood seems to ho the gen eral untllltyi man of the administra Hon. Tracey's partner is dead, but old Tracey is still giving the officers the cliase of a life time. That gubernatorial contest over in Alabama promises to be the warmest political scrap in the south tills year. In the very strict construction of the expression, the democratic conven tion of Texas didn't do a tiling to Bryan. Governor Candler and President Spencer, of tho Southern, are playing oide-nml sock with that Atlanta do pot problem. That, follow out in Illinois who i claiming all of old Hill's motley on a promissory note, is about to put the Atlanta claimant out of business. Norwegians must lie in great favor out In Nd'iida. For the third eoiisoe litivo time one of their number has been elected governor of the state. It is stated that Wliitolay Held will not watt until August : for the com nation. This must he an error, for what in the world would become of t...use knickerbockers? The movement for a ritlo range In this city is along the right line, and tt is to lie hoped that the people will come fcogotltor on the mutter and give the military boys wont they want and what they richly deserve , 1 Ml—,. ■ . . Tilman says he is going to give Me l.anrin the best 'ue lias in the snop when tlu President nominates him for the court of claims. If he does, the junior senator is going to expe rlenee some trouble in making a land ing. The News is, grieved to learn of tne death of Col. Samuel L. Varucdoe. which occurred in Tampa a few days ago. Colonel Varuedoe was a Geor gian, by the way,, and was numbered among the host men in his section. His funeral occurred hi Valdosta Silt ttrday. The executive committee of the re publican organisation of the Eleventh congressional district, is to meet in this city July 31 It is said that the meeting will he a lively one. and those on the inside are of the opinion that the open breach between Chairman Belcher, of this city, and Postmaster Grier, of Dublin, will explode with a genuine Mont Pelee force. A REFORM SUGGESTED. The recent visit of Judge Reagen to the Brunswick circuit, anil tine great satisfaction he gave to all par ties during the time he presided over Glynn superior court, has suggested to our mind that it would Insure a purer class of justice in Georgia if the slate had in vogue the old rotation system, which for many years gave general satisfaction in a number of the states, and we think is now in effect in a few of them. Under the operation of this system the judge must necessarily be impar tial as between litigants and the state and the accused. There can lie no axe to grind, no friends to reward, and no enemies to punis'p, for the simple fact that the trial judge would not know in what, circuit, he was to preside until within a few days of the convening of tile court in question. Jurors, parties and witnesses would not have the opportunity to ingrati ate themselves into lie good graces of the court; there would be no special friendship or enmity, for that, matter, oetweeu tho judge and the attorneys ■uni the cllentels of all the lawyers would lie more faithfully represented. We desire to be understood that we nave no fault to had with our imme diate members of the judiciary of the state. They are able, pure and learn ed jurists and are giving the people eminent satisfaction. At the same time, however, we i re of the opinion that the plan wo sug gest is wortny of the atention of the Georgia legislature, and we are sure that if it were put into effect our courts would „e a source of more sat isfaction than they are at present. GET-RICH QUICK SWINDLES. Thu continued cropping up and breaking down of Various kinds of get-rich-quick -schemes suggests the Idea that the government autnorities could effect a great saving to tho ar my of credulous ‘'investors" by a little quicker action. Ordinarily those Who work such plain to transfer the money of the gullible to their own ac counts are allowed to go on tfibir way without binderonce until their opera tions get beyond them and their mis pension is forced. Then when a horde of "depositors” and government offi cers swoop down upon their headquar torn tae office boy la generally found the only tenant, while the benefici aries of fne swindle have tied with their plunder to unworked fields. .Sta ,laths of the hundreds of thousands lost in these various enterpriees that are us unlawful and as profitless as a lottery would point a powerful moral. Vet their advertisements are permit ted and even solicited by unscrupu lous newspapers, while the postoffiee deparllment is .praclically pnrticcps cri minis. >. ay does the government seem al ways to delay until the harvest has been reaped and the public mulctedV Such enterprises cannot thrive with out "advertising and the use of the mails. Yet their advertisements carry the earmarks of fraud so clearly that in individual cases their long Immu nity from interference might almost load to suspicions of official conniv ance. At any rate It would be re freshing to hear of the arrest of some of these swindlers before they had worked their schemes to such profit. Hon. Julius Brown, of Atlanta, de serves credit for the splendid work he did in connection with the Walker monument. Jim Griggs seems to be giving the republican papers some ineonveniom - since they have all, that is the lar .cn ones, appointed special staff cones pendents to follow the well known Georgian on ais western tour. Is this not a little significant that the mem hers of tlie G O. P. are rather occupy ing the front seat on the anxious bench just at this time. - 1 ■- Tne Cumberland route steamer Emmeline will leave for Cumberland Sunday morning. No tongue can express or pen describe my feelings from this terrible disease. Af ter spending considerable money in the vain hope of ffnim; cured, I was led to try BainiYs Celery Compound, and it is the medicine which enabled me to enjoy the health I now have.
