The city court was in session again yesterday, and quite a number of in teresting cases were disposed of. Fob' lowing is a record of the day’s work: State vs. Jim Jonnson and Henry Josepn, attempt to break open rail road ear; verdict og guilty. Sen tence, ten months on tue chaingang or pay a fine of *25 and costs. state vs. Henry Powell, Jim Burns, David Jones, gaming; first demand. State vs. Chas. Wilson, carrying concealed weapons; verdict of guilty, with recommendation of mercy to court. Sentence, six moult.- on the chaingang or a fine of SSO and costs. State vs. Alex Davis, cheating and swindling; verdict of guilty. Sen tenced to serve ten month* on tae chaingang or pay a one of $75 ami costs. State vs. Jake Atkinson and John Hall, catching tarraplns out of sea son. Verdict of not guilty. Htal.i- vs. Will Diiiaru, lure ny from the person, On trial. The last case of the day was the one against Jake Atkinson and John Hall charged with violating me fish laws in catching tarrapins below the legal size. In this case it scene 1 that the al torneys tor the defense were bent on impeacning the testimony of Denaro, the newly elected th warden of the county, and to this ena a num ber of citizens were introduced for th< purpose of swearing that the word of Denura would no he believed on oath. The state introduced a number of witnesses who took the contra tact and accordingly it; was a leg off on that. However, it was apparent that tne jury tor some time were confused as to whether Hall or AuUn-.-on wen being tried for violating the fish laws, or whether Denaro was unuvr accusa tion for being a had character.
