The News Publishing Company de sire* It to be distinctly understood that all legal advertisements must he paid for In advance. We cannot afford to devote our space to such advertise ments and wait on the courts lor the money. Yon should subscribe lor On* News, and above all, pay for it. Mr. Schwab’s health is very acconi modatlng. It suits occasions. In tlic death or Colonel Hemphill. Georgia loses one of her foremost citizens. The life insurance companies should urge a law prohibiting the munufael ure of automobiles. Brunswick is getting to be a regular "baseball" town. Uhl you notice the size of the crowd nt the game yester day? .<e haven't heard a word of Post master Grier since that republican ((onvjjntion. Ho is evidently "way back and way down.” The populist party in Georgia will probably have no ticket in the field this fall. A ticket would not even keep the organization together. The Duchess of Marlborough, for merly Miss Vanderbilt, is soon to visit America, and t’ho Ncwr>“* •m, us usual, remind us of so many monkeys. We aro tired of seeing and hear ing of Mr. ltryan’s name in connection with the democratic nomination for president. Mr. Bryan has had two chances; he lost, and now let us seek another man,. Van Alen, for wuoso daughter young Millionaire Remington committed su icide, lias often made a fool of him self in Ills mad nobility worship. Such men as tills fool Van Alen are enough to make the American people blush. The Detroit saloonkeepers have of fered to contribute liberally to the Christian Endeavor convention to ue held in that. city. They declare that any gathering bene tils trade, which might bo considered as reflecting somewhat upon the Christian Endeav orers, says the Augusta Chronicle.. THE NEW ’I RISH QUESTION.’ We notice in the newspapers—the weeklies that aro regarded as Irish patriotic journals—statements that the Irishmen in this country are quarreling over the "best manner in which to free Ireland. * The fact that Cuba lias gained inde pendence after -on-year wars follow ing ten year wars, seems to have stir red the Irishmen to new endeavor in behalf of better treatment or inde pendence for taeir fatherland, for (lie Irishmen who say they know best of all, assert that landlordism and sla very of Irish oil Irish soil are more pronounced now than ever, despite recent statements like those put In the mouth of Hon. John D. Cummings and others to the effect tnat Ireland is get ting along nicely. Some of the Irish papers openly de clare that constitutional agitation is a failure and that they realize that *ae time has come when it must be confessed that all hope must be abun- dined of securing for toe Irish people anything through parliamentary ac tion, Their idea is that through phys ical force, and physical force alone, will Irishmen ever be able to wring concessions from England. By phys ical force they mean straightforward warfare. They do not propose to take up guns and start out in a sloop of war to fight the mighty army and na'y of England, but they do propose to put all Europeans on notice that the first, time a high rate power challenges England to the field, the Irishmen will bo found ready, in every quarter of the glebe, to offer auxiliary force against the common enemy, the price being the Irish republic. 11l America, in Australia, in Canada, in Ireland, in England, in Scotland— all over the world-—lrishmen arc speaking and writing of physical force - so much so that they nave won the attention of foreign governments. Tho “physical force" party may be right. Cubans found the opportunity in America. Irishmen hope to find it in France or Russia. At any rate the lesson to Irishmen of many scores of years seems to be that Irishmen have hi He hope from parliament or from the efforts of an Irish parliamentary party. The president mis given orders that the names of the enlisted men of toe army who die in tho Philippines be cabled to tills country once in every two weeks. An excellent order, as it gives relatives opportunity to learn the fate of loved ones without the delay heretofore experienced. Trie publication of these names will ulso give the public information it has a right to know concerning the cost in blood the country is paying for colo nial possessions. Take a careful observation of the retail district iu any city, and tne merchants who advertise are always the most successful. Come rlgui here at home and the same rule prevails, and is it surprising? You are not going where you aro not wanted, amt the merchant who does not. ask you to come looks like ho does not care for your trade. The following incident occurred at on entertainment In a large provincial town: On the programme a certain vo calist was down to sing “The Miner’s Dream of Home,” and to add special effect to the song be, having a friend a fireman at the lire station, about three minutes' walk from the hall, ran out and borrowed bis top boots. ills turn on the programme came around. He appeared on the stage In all the glory of a blouse, slouch hat, white breeches and the fireman’s top boots. Ills rendering of tho song was a great success up to the middle of the second verse, when a commotion was heard at the entrance of the hall. Then n hot and eager fireman forced his way through tho audience up loathe foot lights and'.bawled out at tho top of bis voice: "Bill, you’ve got to come out of them ’ere boots If you value your life. It is a well known physiological law that the use of a muscle cause., an tnc rea ill its size, while n- gleet causes it to become smaller. The steady use of the same arm in, carrying a set of books to and from school, the propping of one arm on a table, or the excessive use of one arm or leg and the disuse of the other - each such hubit slowly but surely . brings about its own result unless constant effort be made to counter net it.
