The News Publishing Company de sires It to be distinctly understood that all legal advertisements must he paid for In advance. We cannot afford to devote our space to such advertise ment and wait on the courts for the money. The Weather. Forecast for today: Fair and war mer. S Every merchant who desires to i. reach the people who buy fall I goods should buy space in next Sunday’s News. Don’t wait until ’ the last day because your adver tisement may not get proper dis ’ play and position. The News will f go to every house in Brunswick S next Sunday. In that Jury revision, too curds seems to have been marked. l*o you notice mat in tins mimic war both the army and navy played even? The “galled jade" winces. It. may lie a matter of a little time, lint the “wincing" will come. II Is said that the negro population is Increasing In Washington. The white house wiil yet be rag time. An exchange suggests that we send Chat Held dial Held Taylor to grapple with General Urlhe-lTrihe, about that Panama canal. Senator Morgan’s remedy for the trusts is to tax them, and tue Wash ington Post wants him to explain how it is to*lio done. If some of the jury commissioners could stuff n turkey as we,, as they stuffed the jury box they could get >■>.ooo per annum at the Waldorf-As toria. Former Governor Boies will proba bly he the democratic opponent of Speaker Henderson. Mr. Boles is a very able man - and will doubtless make a strong race. 1 nero are 47 typewriter factories reported to the Census Bureau, with an annual product worth about $?,- 000,000. The foreign sales for 1 !>Q0 amounted to $2,700,000. The per capita debt of some of the large cities is given as follows by tne New York Sun; Boston, $144: New York, $113; Cincinnati. SS2: Balti more, S7S; Pittsburg. S6S; Buffalo, $.!): Philadelphia, $42; Cleveland, $34: St. Fouls. $33 and Chicago only $lO. On account of the fact tnat Clerk duDignon was busily engaged in the superior court yesterday, the News was mia.,le to obtain t ..e names o, those added to the jury list in place of these dropped. It possible, the names will lie published tomorrow. Wp were told that we shou.u have ••pure" government, and what do we see—the sacred jury box dragged into politics and personalisms. The people are not going to stand for it—they have had enough and when popular sentiment says a man or a measure must go. they are going. AN EDUCATIONAL CONFERENCE. There Is being held in Athens, a very Important educational confer ence. The Southern Education Board has summoned to Athens tha superin tendent of each county and city pub lic school system in the state. It is the purpose of the hoard tnrough con sultation with men fully apprised of the conditions in each county, to ac quaint themselves with the educa tional conditions existing in Georgia. By persona! interviews with com petent representatives of the educa tional interests of eacu county, the Southern Education Board proposes to find out how many schools there are in each county, how manv children to a school, what is the percentage of attendance, the numuer of square miles tributary to each school, and ail information necessary to a further un derstanding of conditions In Georgia. The expenses of this conference are borne by the Southern Education Board, which is the representative in the South of northern philanthropists who have Interested themselves in ad vanning tne cause of education in this section. The results of this owfifn once will bp to give to the Southern Education Board such practical infor mation as will enable it to advise in telligently the appropriation and dis trlbutton of money in this state for meeting the n<eds of various local! ties in Georgia. “From Jtine to August, Captain Hob son lias traveled 17,000 miles, made :u addresses, aud estimates he has reached 140,000 people."- Rome Tri bune. He tallied to as many people in three months as the average news paper reaches in one day. After ail, the newspaper is the host advertising medium. Just such politics as came into the .jury revision some days ago bid:: fair In have Brunswick and Glynn torn up again with political -strife and dlssrn sion. Because a man formerly sym patnizr-K with the so-called ' ring,” is that any reason vYliy he should lie de barred from serving as a Juror of Glynn county? Among the best features ol ihe m xt Georgia State Fair, will he a v. age of Florida Indians from the everglades of ttiat State. They will come about “0 strong, and will have their tents, etc., showing just how they live in their native section. They will also have a large number of wild animals and curiosities from that State. Vat dosta Times. The Charleston News and Courier calls attention to the fact that the population of Georgia is two and nne (piartor millions, and that of Cuba only one and one-half millions, and therefore il is an interesting question wliy Cuba should spend fifteen million dollars a year on its government when Georgia gets along'comfortably with less tlinn two and one half millions. The public generally will bo de lighted with th<' intelligence that the strike in one of the coal fields of West Virginia inis been settled. B is stated tliai 8,000 miners will resume work in the bituminous fields of the Norfolk and Western this week. Tnis strike proved futile. No concessions were made to tile miners. It was merely stipulated that all he employed again. The meeting of tile city council this evening will be of more than passing interest for the simple reason that a number of matters of business will come up for action. In the first place the question of the proposed change in the tire headquarters will be discussed and some definite conclusion will be reached. Again, tne matter of street improvement wilt be taker -v >.w it is safe to conclude that soon agreement will lie reached in the matter. NEXT SUNDAY’S NEWS.
