ONE YEAR OF ROOSEVELT.
The country realizes this monto that
It has had a year of president Roose
velt. He was sworn in on Septem
ber 15. Ho has continued to be
strenuous and surprising. He is very
energetic and hates a dull time.
When he hunts he hunts big game, I
and when he rides he rides, hard.
World’s Work notices that lie boxes,
he rows, he swims and he wrestles.
More than that, he talks. The Presi
dent has physical energy and mental
energy to the extent of rashness. In
the South he will be remembered as
the man who entertained Booker
T. Washington at tnh White House,
and in Savannah history wall put him
down as the president who reappointed
a colored man collector of port over
the protest of business men. Ho will
also be remembered here as the man
'whose early writings wore exposed
ana confuted by Bishop Kelley. The
most, sensational thing the president
lias done was his speech at Arlington
on Decoration day, when he upbraid
ed the South for lynenings without
taking into consideration the crime
for which those lyne..,ngs were visit
ed. President Roosevelt was very
much criticise,i lor tins speech, which
was so different irom anything Mr.
McKinley ever did. ~u threatened
the trusts woli extinction and then
tinned his back before the fight was
oil and lied.
There is one tiling, however, in his
favor. Although he made a mess of
ills domestic policy, he has done noth

does a heap of talking about the Mon
