You afar by the sea,
An.l I on.the hills alar,
But over us both the sun by day.
And by night Love’s quenchless star!
So what is there, sweet, to fear?
And 'how shall the distance part?
Seeing the sun, and seeing the star,
Are we not heart to heart?

THE BRUNSWICK DAILY NEW*.
The triumph that has been won by
Mrs. Brittle, w'ho will he seen here
next Friday night on the occasion ul
the opening of the Grand Opera House
in F. Marlon Crawford’s new play
"Unorna.” has proved one of the sur
prises of the presejji theatrical sea
son. Mrs. Brune has been for some
time an undertermined quantity in the
dramatic wifrld. People knew her as
a clever actress, as a co-star with
Frederick Warde, and in a number of
standard characters played, generally,
when-she was immature, or when her
surroundings were such that she could
not be seen to, advantage, in one
night she has blossomed out into 4ie
of the greatest stars of the country,
and critics are saying everywhere that
she is one of the greatest aetresse# of
our stage. Mrs. Brune has Kno#n for,
a long time that she had talent: She
had dreamed of occupying a position
of importance on the stage and now
iter hopes are about to come true.
The critics are hailing her now as a
genius, and Craw ford s new play, the
vehicle which she used in her sud
den leap to fam, as an entlri Iv new
and wonderful ftttc.o of .-.tag/: litera
ture. The reason for this is not far
to seek.
Mrs. Brune is possessed of one thing
that many of her less fortunate sisters
would give worlds to have, a dominant,
winning personality. She has a tran
scendent personal charm, and lias tie
rare power of at once obtaining the
sympathy of ner audience, of reach
ing out. as it were, over the foot
lights, and making them live Lie store

of a play with her. She sweeps them
with her, of playing to them as
if they were so many callous critics
sitting in judgment on #ier efforts.
She even carries the genuine critics
with her in this same way. so that
they are her warmest admirers.
Janies Kutrelle, tne dramatic critic
of the Richmond Leader who is known
us tin most severe critic in the South
lias this to say after seeing Mrs.
Brune in Richmond a few night.-, ago:
"They say Mrs. Brittle is the Amer
ican Bernhardt. Sue is more than
that; she is the only actress in the
country to-day who could have taken
"llnorna*’ to the sweeping success it
achieved last night. Slie is not great
as Mr#. Kiskc is gri at, she is not great
as Mrs. Leslie Garter is great; she is
great in her own right. She lias an
individuality which is strong ami
trembling, vivid and ..utnan, (euse and
coquettish. Tills is not talent, it is
genius. It can’t J>e acquired, it is
itmorn and Inbred. Despite the sup
port ot a company which is far from
being strong enough for Us star, she
swept alt lief ore her last night, and at
the finish, happy and smiling as a child
she received the congratulations of her
manager.
