THE MOLINEUX CASE.
At the last trial of Roland . Moll
neux for tne murderof Mrs. Knthar
ine J. Adams who died of poison
sent through the mails, Assistant
District Attorney Osbone made out
such a strong case against the accus
ed that conviction resulted. But a
new trial was granted, and this is just
now drawing to an end in a much
shorter period of time than the first
one. Molineux seems to have had
better legal talent In Ids defense tins
time, and much Important evidence
allowed before could not be gotten
before the jury in this trial. K\
Governor Black has made a strong
defense. He scored strongly for his
client in securing the exclusion of
what are known as the "Barnett let
ters”, which connected him in sonic
degree with the death ef H. C. Bat
net, and by inducing the Newark girl
clerk to state that Holla. \ was not
the man who bought from her t,u
bottle-holder in which the fatal poison
was sent to Harry Cornish. Molineux.
however, is prominently eonne ted,
his father being an exeivil war general
and a man of influence. The fled mi
ant’s chances of acquittal are much
Stronger than before, and he may yet
go unwaipped at juitlce.
THE TIME TO ACT.
The people of Brunswick have long
preached on Ihe subject cf factories,
il has been pointed out that the even
tual depieton of the forests of south
Georgia would necessarily decrease
the volume of our lumber ami naval
stores traffic, and that we would- be
compelled to turn to factories for our
coninfc rical prestige.
We are now face to lace with- a rea
sonable proposition whereby we can
secure a branch cigar factory of the
American Cigar Company, wnicii, -in
cidentally. Is (lie largest, manufactur
ing Imifustry of ibis character in the
world.
As an evidence ol good faith and as
a further evidence of the fact that the
company is in dead earnest, a com
mittee of their officers were In the
city yesterday for the purpose of in
vestigating local conditions generally.
They were treated with due consider
ation by our people and seemed to he
impn.ssed with the unmistakable ad
vantages Brunswick offers, not only
as a distributing point, but as a man
ufacturing center. These gentlemen
nave made certain propositions to trie
Board of Trade, which, to our mind.
considering the magnitude of the en
terprise, seem perfectly reasonable.
They ask for a silo and desire that
some *3,liOt) should he expended on
the Improvement <4 same, in return
for which they will at once locate a
factory that will give employment to
at least COO people to begin with.
Brunswick should consider well
this proposition, it means the open
ing u)i of a now Industry in this city.
It means an influx of several hundred
valuable inhabitants, and from every
possible point of vIV-w the consumma
tion of ibis deal will Ik; conducive lo
the material and eonimerh-ial Inter
eat* of this city.
The Unttril of Trade has appointed
a special committee on ways and
means to look Into and consider Ibis
matter, and il is the duty of every
loyal citizen of Brunswick to co-oper
ate with tills eommlllee in ili t . very
important mission which has been del
egated to TT.
This is a real good opportunity for
Brunswick lo secure what Savannah
,ui:\ already gainedi, and what" will be
offered to several other southern sea
port cities.
NOW IN THE TIME TO ACT.
Brunswick should,*!!' possible, secure
the brunch of the American Cigar
