Hon. Emory Bpeer has designated the Brunswick Daily News as the official organ of the United States Court, In bankruptcy proceedings, for t.iynn oounty. PUBLISHERS NOTICE. The News Publishing Company de sires It to be distinctly understood that all legal advertisements must be palJ for in advance. We cannot afford to vvote our space to such advertise ments and wait on the courts for tha money. There are some smiling candidate* abroad In the Una th’j morning. Mr. Houston seems to be hitting Bpeaker Morris in soft places. Tlie army and nnv?S>rac( icing came rather expensive to Uncle Sam. Brunswick’s shlppi lg record is the beat evidence of what we are doing. Representative Houston is mowing some not. charges at Speaker Morris. President Roosevelt h.v? started out on a bear hunt, but not iko Wali street kind. Roosevelt wants a white republican party in the south, but he manages to keep the black brother in line. The best definition of the Glynn county farmer is—the man who doesn’t farm. General Leonard Wood, the presi dent’s friend and side partner, is hack from Europe. A Boston philosopher says a maa is happiest when asleep, it Is alt - nether the nature of hi dreams. The fact that tne coal strike is set tled does not affect the prices. The latter are holding their own. Speaker Morris is charged with having packed the labor committee, lie must, also, have taken lessons front the Glynn jury commissi w-rs. The Knoxville Journal an 1 Tribune asks, "Do trusts nave souls?” Only the leather trusts, answers the Nash villo Banner. Tnose ehcarged with wrecking tin* Barm'sville hanks are now on trial, but it is safe to say that they will be acindtled. Precedent in Georgia could not stand for convictions. The political "leaders" who gather and make political trades will find cut some day tlint the voters nave some thing to say about it. The guberna torial nomination proved this. TUo special committee appointed to investigate the condition of the state capitol has decided to recom mend that 120.000 be appropriated for the purpose of putting the molding in repair. In Munsey's .Magazine for Noveui her. l)r. John 11. Girdner riders most of the diseases of mankind to the verst ties ot tee public. This organ, he says, is the czar, the depot of the whole human anatomy. The stomach Is completely n * ils mercy, unless the individual, recognizing the source of tyranny and disaster, heroically con tends against it. Dr. Girdner ex plains that the digestive system of every animal—man of course included —is a chemicoa! labortorv in which the material that is put into it is sepasjited into all the various sub stances required for the maintenance of the body. COMMITTEE PACKING. Representative C. C. Houston, of Fußon county, makes quite a serious charge against Speaker Morris and one that should have some attention. Mr. Houstin has resigned the chair manship of the labor committee, in fact he has resigned from the com mittee entirely and charges Mr, Mor ris with having packed the commit tee. Mr. Houston claimed that t.ie speak er selected a committee that he knew,, positively, would either report, ad versely on the bill or would bottle It up in such a condition t-.at it would not pass. He also claims the speaker knew other labor hills would be re ported on adversely by the committee he hail Selected. Concerning his resignation from the committee Mr. Houston makes the following statement in the Journal of Labor: “When the committee on labor and labor sialistics of the house was ap pointed, i ascertained it had a larger proportion of old members on it than any other coknmittee of the house. Of the twenty-iwo members, fifteen had served in the house, nine of whom were on record as having voted against the child labor bill, and six for It. Of the seven new members on the committee, 1 soon ascertained that a majority were selected oy reason of being opposed to the hill, and became, convinced that the - speaker nad taken pains to appoint, a committee that would either bottle up or report ad versely, not only upon the child labor hill, but upon all other labor meas ures referred to the committee. "Of course, under these circiim stares neither Mr. Ktlhurn nor myself could stultify ourselves by remaining upon the committee, murii less acting as chairman, and being placed in the humiliating position of being forced to sign our names to committee re ports that meant the further exploit ing, degradation anil even death of thousands of innocent little children in this sla.e, that nmant to place us in the attitude of trait rs to t.uo labor ing men and women ot' Georgia, and the loss of confidence of thq thousands of Christian n cn and women of the stale who are interested in the child labor question. "We, therefore, deUverel back to Sepakcr Morris the empty honors he sought, to conier. No .ulior measures hereafter iutodueed in this 1, uue by friends of labor will bo ref v ied to ihe committee on labo. and labor sta tistics. Of course, 1 do not iiujtl to reflect in any manner upon the hen esty-or integrity of a single member of tile committee on labor and !ab- i statistics. They are honorable gc n tlemen and are not responsible lor the remarkable action of Speaker Morris in packing the committee with members whose views were known to be hostile to the child labor bit.'.” A democratic leader says the repub licans control both branches of con gress and their responsibility is great er. Tills is poor consolation. "The World's Goal Supply and Trade is the title ot a monograph j Just issued hy the treasury bureau of statistics. It shows that the United States not only leads the world in coal production, but has advanced from third place to the head of the list since 1880. Tax Notice.
