The Brunswick Golf and Tennis club had a very interesting tournament on the links yesterday afternoon, and the members contested for the handsome medal presented to the club by Mr. F. D. Aiken. There were fifteen participants in the tournament and the medal was won by H. F. uunwody on a net score of 42. The i,esf gross score made was 48 by E. D. Walter. The children ot the public school have been evry much interested dur ing the past week in the decoration ot their respective rooms for. the holiday season. Parties of the children, under chap eron age of tko teachers, have made excursions lo Uie woods in the after noons. letuming laden with holly, pal niet.tp and Christmas berries to fash ion into wreathes and liaugings for the walls. On Friday many of the rooms had already been hung with the bright tro phies from the woods and presented a very attractive appearance. Pictures appropriate to the season were drawn on the blackboards as were also borders oi holly bet ries and leaves. Some very artistic work was done by the pupils themselves and receiv ed much praise from the teachers and visitors. Jn the primary department, orna mental articles as picture frames, iihnging baskets, etc., were fashioned by the defi fingers of tue little ones under the guidance of their teachers,. and show remarkable skill in their construction. Some of the other rooms which were decorated with pic tures drawn by the children, were the ’tilth and seventh grades. Mamie Johnson and Francis Gasa way, two colored damsels, engaged in a lively light on Monk street last night, and ior a while the fur was dying iu every direction. Officers. Low and Richardson soon arrived on the scene and placed the two women under arrest. The John son woman gave Policeman anv quite a tussle and he had quite a time get ting her to tho city jail. Man Received His Reward and Was Asked No Questions. The cash register which was stolen from the saloon of P. Horan, on Bay street. Thursday night, was returned to him yesterday morning. Mr. Horan placed an ad. in tne News stating that he would give a rewara of $25 for the return of the register and would ask no questions as to how it go away. The ad. was noticed by a man who probably got in possession of t.bd register xn some way, and no returned tt and received his reward. The News was mistaken in stating that there was $65 in the register. We understand that it contained only a few dollars.
