AROUND OUR CITY,
Drilling Every Night.
The uniform rank, Knights of Py
thias, are now practicing every night
preparing for the prize drill to occur
in Atlanta the latter part of this
month. Captain Newman is pleased
with the showing the company is
making, and feels sure that he will
return with one of the prizes.
Needs Attention.
Egniond street, between Monk and
Gloucester, is certainly in need of
attention from the civic league or
some quarter. Church-goers complain
loudly regarding the condition of this
street in that section. The attendant
in Hanover park complains of the
flocks of maurading liens that work
havoc among the plants there. There
should lie a remedy for this evil, and
the authorities should use it even
though it Do a drastic one.
Came for His Dead Son.
D. M. Beckham, of Camden county,
father of the young man who was
killed by a B. and it. passenger train
Sunday night, arrived in the city yes
terday to take charge of .the re
mains, and they were taken to his
home where the funeral will occur
today. Mr. Beckham seemed greatly
distressed over the awful accident
that happened to his son. He thanked
Coroner Jennings for notifying him
so quick of the accident.
