The large demand for cottages is a evidence of St. Simon’s popular ity with Brunswick people. * * * Misses Hannah, Lona nad Carrie Alexander, and Miss Viva Englin, Mrs. Ed Fishier, and Miss Blanche Fishier, of Savannah, were the guests of Mrs. S. B, Nathan Sunday. A large party from Chattanooga is at the Arnold house on St. Simon, A number of parties from various parts of the state are booked for this popular resort and a number from Brunswick will go down this month and next. ■ • • The musicians and others who are to lake part in the concert this even ing will arrive this afternoon from Savannah. There are fourteen in the party and they will be entertained by a number of their Brunswick friends: * * * Miss Leslie Butts is in Boston. Ga., the guest of Mrs. George P. Smith. Miss Butts will be one of the attend ants at the wedding of Miss Pauline Brooks, of Boston, and Dr. Shine, of Tallahassee, which occurs in Boston tomorrow evening. • • The Daughters of the Confederacy will celebrate tomorrow, the birthday anniversary of the chieftain of the Lost Cause, by tending an informal reception to the veterans and their families. The reception will be hold at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Kverett, from 8:30 to 10 o’clock to morrow evening,' There will be a pleasing program of music and the crosses of honors will be presented by several veterans who have ap plied tor crosses are requested to be present. St. Simon Pier, June I.—The island presented a lively appearance yester day and the largest crowd of the sea son came over to enjoy the surf and other desirable amusements that only St. Simon can give. The beach look ed like the beach of old yesterday and it is said that not less than fifty were in the surf at oue time. Mr. and Mrs. F. D. Aiken and chil dren have removed to their pretty cot tage in King city and will spend the remainder of the season nere. Captain and Mrs. Charlie Temple have decided not to occupy their cot tage this summer but will rent the same. dearly every cottage on the beach has been rented for the months of June and July and it is safe to say that the isiand will present a lively appearance. The News now reaches here on the •early boat and we get it as soon as they do in Brunswick. This is a treat to all the cottagers. Turtle egg hunting is now engag ing the attention of many and they are having great success, it is a lit tle early nut it seems that the tur tles are prepared to meet the demands ol the occasion and are laying plenty of eggs.
