Brunswick, Ga., Junne 6, 1903. By order of the mayor. Present, Hon. A. .1. Crovatt, mayor, Aldermen Kaiser, du llignon, Cook, Smith and Dart, The following call was read: “Brunswick, Ga., June 6, 1903. “Believing that the citizens of Brunswick are under especial obligat ion and in common gratitude ought to extend their assistance to the peo ple of Georgia in such cases, I here by request that the mayor and coun cil meet. In special session at the city hall at noon today for the pur pose of considering whether or not lliey will appropriate the sum of SSOO or such amount as they may see prop er to assist in relieveing the necessi ties of a suffering people at Gaines ville and Hall county, Georgia. Owing to the unavoidable absence of several members of council, it was deemed inexpedient to make an ap propriation from the city treasury, without the full and unanimous vole of council. After thorough discus sion of the subject, the following mo tion prevailed: That the mayor ho requested to issue a proclamation calling on lhe citizens of Brunswick for aid to the sufferers nt Gainesville and to appoint a. committe consisting of the minis ter.: of the city and such other citi zens as he may deem advisable to col loct the subscriptions. Their being no other business the meeting adjourned. N. D. Russell, Clerk of Council. Motion. That the mayor he requested to is sue a proclamation calling on the citizens of Brunswick for aid to the sufferers at, Gainesville. Ga., and ap point a committee calling on Hie min isters of the city and such other cit izens as he may deem advisable to collect subscriptions. The above motion adopted by the mayor and council of Brunswick at a special meeting held today and as requested by it, I am pleased to ask each of the ministers of this city and following citizens to act as the com mittee comlemplateed by the mo tion. It is hoped that the citizens of Brunswick will now gladly come to the relief of their stricken and suf ering fellow men at Gainesville.
