Emory Speer ha* designated T** Brunswick Daily News as the othslal ergan of the United Btates Ceurt, in bankruptcy proceedings, for G:ynn county. TELEPHONE 188. PUBLISHERS NOTICE. The News Publishing Company de tires it to be distinctly understood that all legal advertisements must be paid for in ad vimco. We cannot at ford to devote our space to such ad rtrtlsements and wait on the courts ft* ihe money. Cupid lias Im* n lazy this this month iianlly a inarriago. Their face is their fortune. We wro speaking of soliritors. Vianething is wrong with Andrew C l• g. e He liai .101 I uill a lil*ar in ton The AHioiih Hanenr did not got a groat deal from (trover but the ad vertising it got was enough Quite a large number of new luiil dings are being erected in all parts of the city. This is certainly not a bad sign. j . Ve Anyway we have a great many fl ings to be thankful for one of the same is the fait that the storm did lot tom h iis. Those who bought real estate here need not worry. It is worth what they paid for il right now and is cer tain to Improve in value. The man who owns a small far tory; has ready sale for his product ami finds the rough material easy to gel, is eertainly the man to he envied. The man who is eol I aging on the Island is a regular delivery wagon. Jf you do not believe this just waleh the number of packages lie carries to the boat It set-ms strange that some man who T.as a little money and a big brain dot>s not ei'tsl a hotel on SI. Simo. He could double the former in two seasons. In many of Ilio northorn cities 11m People arc sweltering with tlio lorri l>le lioal while here a blanket la not uncomfortable. Wo have the host climate in the world anyway. X- — The grand jury of Glytm coaly is goiug to see that the fisheries are pro tected in future. This is a wise eon elusion ar i such a course will meet with the approval id' tin* people gen orally. We do not know how our friend Andy feels about it but Is lie will Just give us what he has we will take tite chillier3 ot it being a sin to die rich. We would willingly stand for the result. The talk for a Y M. <\ A., just will not down and we are g|pd that it won’t. There is no reason, why we should not have such an organisation and we hope that it will be only it few months before we will have a thriv ing organization of the kitul because we certainly need it. The letter from the (Jarret-Cromwell Engineering company may or may not I* of Importance, but it occurs to us ■ that it would in* a gissl idea for a committee from the Board of Trade to take the matter up wiih them. It may be that something good may yet ! come of it ONE OF OUR MISTAKES. The people of this city have always made the eggregious mistake of su pinely sitting down and Indulging in the delusive phantom of a hope that gome day a man or men of millions would come (flit-of the east and with one full swoop, transform great areas of undevolepcd land into tbdivlng and prosperous cities and make the air filled with ihe music of countless spindles, wheels ami furnace blasts. This is a mistake. It is quite the proper thing to en courage capita, seeking investment amr it is eminently the rigght thing to show the advantages of Brunswick, and we have lots of them, hut it is not the correct policy to woar their lives out out waiting for this ima ginary deliverer. "God Helps Those Who Help Them selves.” We should go to work on that, line and engage in small factor ies. Brunswick is not financially the worst ullUcteil community in Georgia and if the proper offers were only made in I lie; l ight line in a very few years we could have many small fac lories In operation and wilh our ow, money at I hat. Let it lie understood Hint we wan, outside capital invested here, all w can get, at the same time we slionlu encourage it by the example and bulb, fac lories of our own. A GOOD EXAMPLE. Tlie Atlanta Journal of Sunday toll us of Ihe typographical union of Uai eigli taking a little girl from a col lon mill and appropriate acer eain amount each year for her edu cal lon. This is indeed, a good example am oik* which wo hope will In* follower by unions in all serious of this greal country. We have always Keen the friend o‘ labor union and now our frlendshii grows. Let the unions do this kin* of work and the groales! trust mag nate cannot hut help in paying then: honor. INDUSTRIAL PROGRESS. The current number r the Chat tnuooga Tradesman tells of quite a lot of new enterprises for Georgia and the following list will show that our own city is among lln* number whleh has new industries: Vidalia- Hardware company; $2l, 000 cotton oil mill. Urunswlch $40,000 hardware com pany; land company. Thonmsville Saw mill company Dalton Tale company. Kllijay $ll,OOO dry Kiln Atlanta $lO,OOO lumber company Columbus $25,000 water, land and const met ion company. Pelham —$10,000 dyeing and li ilsh ing plant. (Ireenosboro Knitting milt The hardware company referred to has the strongest business men in the eity and county as its incorporators and the land company is alreardy do ing business. It will be seen that this is a very eiieotiraging report inasmueh as both the industries mentioned mean husi ness. Those merchants who have not en gaged space for the Sunday News are missing a good thing. Remember it will have ten thousand readers. Made Young Again. "One of Or.
