Our soldier boys are having a gen uine laste of military this week Remember tlie Sunday News will be read, by over ten Inousail.l people. - It looks like the gubernatorial race la to be a long and Interesting one. You are not doing the business justice unless you have an ad in the Sunday News. We can't see much of a (litferonos between the guessing contests and the old Louisiana lottery. It looks very much like the Sham rock 111. is going to give the Ameri can boat a hot time. Brunswick should be proud of hei secret order societies. All are in tin very best condition. When the new electric motor oi th Newt l gets to work we want the pub lic to come around and see It drive the machinery. Rome is getting along very well uuedr the dispensary system. Of course we can say nothing of the li gers of the blind variety. If the legislature will only extend the state road to this port ll will lie uothiug short of a gold mine and a good one at that. And now the "get rich quick" con cerns are all taking a holiday. In the meantime the "‘suckers" are hunt ing for other means to get rid of their cash. We see where a minister of Kansas says he lives on less than u dollar a week. His congregation must he Is tue habit of giving daily surprise par ties. Savannah is talking about tier Inn bor and comparing it with Brunswick's but we think there would he no trim ble in putting the entire water front -of the Forest City in what we call here, the canal. Some of our American concerns spend over a million a year in adver thing but we will venture to assert that Mr. Lipton makes more out of the half million it takes to get a boat lor the yacht race. This new way of spelling names is getting the best of us. Mai, Ma.vbel, Ethyl and the like and the worst part of it is if we do not print them according; to the new way there is a row on hand. AN OPINION ON LYNCHING. Secretary of the Navy Mo.x’v the other day made a strong denunciation of lynching rml ’;:■ ioll jv.ed tins v ini an Interview, reiterating and-intensi fying his itltUoaretiee of r.".:- IJ .'.vvu.. ness. In the Mhi'-i-. I.- ■ he was quoted as saying this remark able expr 'am if.: ’• fit H a •‘When, recently. 1 traveled with the president and the ear was Mr rotinaed by a large hut frieu h' e; iv. il I ri. marked lo the pro blent the posslblli ties of personal danger. He said that If an attc m|>i was made upon ih president In- would condone the lynch ing of the guilty party. "Bui,” said I lo the president, "are you certain they worn! secure the light person in such moment? Are you certain that they might not even take you?” The question bail never prcatmtjß itself to the president in that lisle before ami he agreed that there were dangers which deprived lynching ol all justification. The Interview was reported In tlie New York Herald, apparently without appreciate!! of the starlling feature o it. the statement that tlie president of the United Stales would condom moh vengeance against a criminal un dor certain conditions, and those con dltlons that the crime was directed against the person of the president. Such a statement from ,a member of the president’s cabinet, who is also a friend of bis chief, was truly amazing. Secretary Moody now denies that lie said anything of the sort ami says hi lias been done a great injustice ant through him the president has beet done a greater. That is. of course, i relieving statement, Imt the story shout the president’s sentiments bears certain earmarks of reliability. It is to he hoped that it will he explored further.
