It is a matter of deep regret that

found it necessary lo make such a

However, no one regrets this run

step when he found that it was ab

to proii-cl the interest of the proli

MR. BRYAN’S DAZZLING CHEEK.
In making his ■political bed with
John H. Clarke, the demoeratnc can
didate for United States senator,
and a hated gold bug, it is amusing
to bear Mr. William J. Bryan ex
plain his reasons for such an ungodly
affiliation, according to bis point of
view, says the Now Organs States.
He '‘accepts" Mr. Clarke because of
bis belief that (he candidate for the
senatorship, although an advocate .f
the gold standard, Is in sympathy
with the people in their fight against
organized wealth, yet Mr. Bryan hast
ens to say: ,
• I would have preferred the nomi
nation of prime one who had been
native anil earnest in support of all
(lie planks of our Kansas City plat
form.” and adds “Believing as J do
H,at pis sympathies are right, I shall
trust to him to carry out his platform
on all questions that come before
him.”
It in evident that Mr. Bryan is
crtiKcd by thyi idea that he is the head.
Ivoifly and tail ef Hie democratic party:
* hat, he will not “accept" the nomina
tion of any man in a/ny state who
lias not Hie stamp of his approval.
We ‘wonder bow much farther the
Nebraskan will carry bis unexcelled
effrontery in dictating to the democrat
ic party as though he were his mas
ter and must be obeyed.
It shhould be plain to all d**mecrats
that Mr. Bryan is becoming a polit
ical Inuisance and to prepare, when
the national convention meets next
year, to thoroughly disabuse hi i mind
of the kvlld hallucination that the
democratic party is himself. He 1s
growing decidedly offensive and dis
gusting with time and promises to lie
mores than a 'nuisance unless he is
thorolnghly squelched by the party
sifting down on him next vear.

Letters from
Women
Cured by the use of Kodol are received daily.
Their troubles nearly all begin with indiges
tion or other stomach disorder.
If the food you eat fails to give strength
to your body, it is because the juices se
creted by the alomach and digestive organs
are inadequate to transform the nutrient prop
erties of the food into blood. That is
Indigestion. The system ts deprived of the
■mount of nourishment required to keep up
the strength, and the result is that one or
more of the delicate organs gradually grows
weak, and then weaker, until finally It is
diseased. Here a great mistake Is made.
That of treating the diseased organ. The
best doctors in the land make this very
mistake. Why should they ? It is so easy
to see that the trouble is not there.
Kodol
Cures
This famous remedy puts the stomach and
digestive organs In a healthy condition so
that rich, red blood Is sent coursing through
the veins and arteries of every muscle, tissue
and fiber throughout every organ of the en
tire body, and by Nature's lav/ of health, full
strength and vigor is soon restored to each.
Kodol cures indigestion, dyspepsia and all
stomach disorders.
I have taken Kodol for nearly two months
after each meal and it Is the only remedy
that gave relief from the terrible pains I
endured. After a time I would take it but
once a day. and now, while 1 keep a bottle
handy I seldom need it, as it has cured me.

How the Armada Fnnebt.
The Spa nisi-, offi-ers bobav>d with
the desperate heroism which became
the countrymen of Cortes and Santa
Cruz, and never did Spanish soldier or
seaman distinguish himseif more than
on this tremendous day. There was no
flinching, though the blood was seen
streaming out of the snippers. Priests
went up and down under the hottesv
Are, crucifix iu hand, confessing and
absolving the dying.
But the engagement from the first
preserved the same character which
hnd been seen in those which had pre
ceded it. The Spaniards' courage was
useless to them. Their ships could not
turn or sail, their guns were crushed
by the superior strength of the English
artillery, they were outmatched in ■
practical skill, and, close as the ships
were to one another, they could not
once succeed in fixing a grappling in/.
In an English rigging. Thus, while
their own losses were terrible, they
could inflict but little in return. They
hnd endured for five hours to be torn
to pieces by camion shot, and that was
