We find them in the very deserts of the earth; they frequent the great highways of trade and traffic and on rare occasions they are to be found in the isles of the sea, remote from the rude world and near the clearest of waters, the sun niest of climes and the bluest of skies Such a one we have in the county of Glynn As little as the average citizen of Brunswick mav think of it, we have right here at our very doors an ex ample (rif work and the gen: uino good that can he done if the proper thought and spirit Is Inculca lated into the story. 1 Down at Frcderict, on the island of St. Simon there is a two story fra.mo dwelling resembling in outline and curve a veritable country home that shelters some two dozen orphans. lit Is known (as the Anson Dodge Home and its doors are at all times open to the little tots who have been unfortunate in lowing their parents— the best of all good and perfect gifts. The “home,” as it Is general yy ter med in this city and on St. Simon, as stated above, is located at Fred erica within a stones throw of the old fortifications of General Ogle thorpe. It is hidden from view by clustering vines margined by deep rooted undergrowth and overhung •with the very choicest of magnif.clenl foliage. Its lawn Is one oif those that would excite the envy of the lovers of true scenery ami its vast expense of enclosures affords ample play grounds for the little homeless chil dren wh< i chance to fall within its lines. Ir. all, "tho homo” Is an ideal spot. Removed, ns it were, from all things not In common with it, and yet most attractive to those who dwell within its confines. All such holm os has its "guardian angiol” and the Anson Dodge Tfome has Its own. Mrs. Anna D. Dodge. Tho word "Dodge” Is at all times synonymous with nil that stands for charity and good will on earth but tn this instance it means something more. ' THIS IS THE SEASON. Of alii seasons of the years this is the one for advertising and the merchant who first gets before the public is the one who will get the cream of the trade. Advertising of null kinds pays but the best and the surest way of telling tlio people of the merits of your goods is through the News. The Spanish, officers behaved with :bo desperate heroism which became tile countrymen of Cortes and Santa Cruz, and never did Spanish soldier or seaman distinguish himself more than on this tremendous day. There was uo flinching, though the blood tvas seen streaming out of the scuppers. Priests went up and dawn under the hottest fire, crucifix in hand, confessing and absolving the dying. But the engagement from the first preserved the same character which had been seen-In those which had pre ceded it. The Spaniards’ courage was useless to them. Their ships could not turn or sail, their guns w o re crushed by the superior strength of the English artillery, they were outmatched In practical skill, and, clese as the ships were to one another, they could not once succeed In fixing n grappling ire/. In an English rigging. Thus, while their own losses were terrible, they could inflict but little in return. They had endured for five hours to be torn to pieces by cannon shot, and that was til.—Spanish Story of the Armada. Potent Pill Pleasure.
